Think of cyberspace as a country, and this is its money. It has an insane exchange rate though. 1 bitcoin = $298 USD right now (not $600 as previously mentioned). @-) And yeah, when it was up at $1200 I fucking wished I grabbed just a few of them back at the very beginning!
I think most people are worried by the fact that its digital currency... sounds like it would be easier for hackers to steal. However, I don't know if that would be easier than it is for people to steal the money right out of your bank account right now, so perhaps the fears are unfounded, however understandable.
