Whatever happened to the guy who used to freeload his breakfast and swim in the hotel pool for free? Anybody remember the thread title that was in or the dude's or dudette's name? I think the thread may have been locked under the excuse of promoting stealing or breaking the law or something but that guy or gal had some stories. Anyone going to try any of his tricks this tour?

Sounds interesting. I never tried those tricks but you can do some of these things semi-legit. I showered in a hotel room once between the occupants leaving and the cleaning crew coming in. I was dirt poor, living in a van and trying to find work. I used one of the clean towels and threw a few bucks on the counter for the cleaning lady.
Another time, again during van life, I needed a place to park and crash and found a winery on the coast that was closed for the night. I went to find someone and make sure it was ok. No one was around but the back door to the tasting room and wine storage barn was open so I went in, said "hi" to the barn cat, checked the price sheet, grabbed a bottle of the most affordable zinfandel, left the money on the counter and headed for the van. The next morning, a bit groggy headed, I got up before anyone was around, went back in and left a note pointing out that I'd paid for the wine and guarded the place for the night, signed it "Thanks, The Night Guard," and headed on down the road.

I knew a guy that kept his card to Embassy Suites and would eat their buffet a few times a week.

Mr. Lux doing the right thing even in his time of need. Nowadays, I'm afraid, they would have sicked the dogs on you, given you a beat down, impounded your van, dragged your ass to court and then thrown your ass in jail for 30 days for how dareth you drinketh MY wine! Even if you did pay for it. Honorable man, that Mr. Lux.
