I actually listen to backspacer more than I do Lightning Bolt. LB would be a good record if they kept off all the ballady top 40 garbage. But that stuff ruined it for me. It would have been killer as a 7 song EP.

correct, the member packages that I was referring to was actually the 7" holiday single. The new member packs are juvenile garbage. Stickers, patches, all I'm waiting for now is a pinup poster of Matt shirtless to put on my bedroom door.

But this year's holiday single was a complete joke. That chick from Criminal Minds singing a Rolling Stones tune in a Julie Andrews accent? WTF? and Jay Z as the A side? I get it. they are trying to gain a new legion of fans, fine, I don't fault them for that. But fuck, their original fan base is flocking to other bands in droves.

I think this place is cyclical like anything. I remember when I first joined back in 2006 I kept reading about all these other members that left after the forum became paid-only. It was apparently a drag for a while, but then everyone got to know one another and a whole new group had formed. It might take a while, that will happen again.

um, I don't think anyone's pouting, Chad. he made some very good points earlier in this very thread on why the changes were no good for him esthetically. I totally get it. When I try to access this site at work now, it's a jumbled mess that I can barely read, never mind navigate.

and he was always here to discuss with his like minded friends. if they all moved on to another place, why wouldn't he? jesus, it's just a place where fans congregate to talk about their favourite band. if his friends don't come here anymore, why would he?
