I just wanted the HBO documentary Running with our Eyes Closed.  It was released today.
I highly recommend it.  It is really, really good.

Agree with the above. Amazing insight into his recording process, writing, the Reunions album, and his life/marriage to Amanda. I had high expectations for this doc and it absolutely lived up

It was great. The passion he puts into each song and the honesty he allowed us to see about his life was amazing. A lot of times artists only show us the public outermost level of who they are, but Jason and Amanda let us see them in a way that showed the vulnerability and human side of them that we all have but rarely allow others to see. I guess it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise since many of his lyrics are very personal.

Just a reminder that he & Amanda Shires have a RSD release - https://recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/15713
And Amanda has one of her own as well - https://recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/15821 (Isbell on guitar playing songs from her latest album, which is a damn good album)

Amanda’s shows are great. Seen her the last four times she’s came through the Twin Cities. Small venues too (250-500 people clubs). This last time (November) was the best. Her band was on point. Some guy in crowd did have a heart attack about three songs in. Was strange, but they picked right up like nothing happened!

Doc really is great. Watched it last night. Could use a full 90 minutes just on the Truckers years and those stories.

There’s a good DBT doc about those years. Secret to a Happy Ending. They used some footage from it.
