Dang, Jason and Amanda splitting. Not one for gossip but their relationship was so interlaced with his material and rise. Sad but hope they find peace.
Looking back on the documentary that was made about them, and the pandemic, they seemed to have a strange vibe between them.
Yeah. That was clear. Also, the struggles of making a marriage work was a major theme in Weathervanes. This is sad, but didn't exactly come out of nowhere.
Marriage is one of the damn hardest things to maintain. At least that's what I hear...

Yeah, I could kind of see this coming...but it still sucks. Hoping they are both able to work through it in a healthy way for themselves, each other and their daughter.
How is he live ? Casual fan but going to a show later this year
I think his live show is absolutely killer. Very rock forward at this point, him and Sadler play some mean guitar. Only knock is lack of variety in the setlist. For a casual fan going once, you should absolutely enjoy every second.

Second this. My only issue with his live shows is lack of variety the last 5-7 years. I e seen him 40+ times though…
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

I saw Jason 10 days ago in St. Paul and his voice was sounding like he’d been eating sandpaper. Not terrible, but it was noticeable. I guess that’s what happens when you’re play 5-6 nights in a row with one night off for a couple months straight.
She’s allowed to be upset but I don’t blame Jason for writing a song about his own survivor guilt. The Truckers (Patterson) wrote a song about his death that is much more graphic so it’s interesting that she only takes issue with his.

I don't know. The lines about the family are pretty brutal and if it's accurate that they were estranged it feels exploitative. I know that raw honesty is his stock in trade but not everyone is looking for the same ride, especially when it's specifically for Isbell's own catharsis.
I can only speculate on the Truckers songs but maybe they reached out first, maybe Patterson still maintained a relationship, and/or maybe it's that they're not putting the song out front. We Will Never Wake You Up In The Morning, graphic as it is, also doesn't directly reference his kid.
I think as an artist, Jason is allowed to write and perform about what he wants to. Clearly JTE's death moved him. They were close. I saw them together a couple of times.
Jenn definitely has a right to be upset too. It wouldn't hurt for Jason to reach out and say 'Sorry. My bad, I should have given you the heads up'.
Seen they started following one another again on socials. Good they can be cordial and hopefully puts to bed any bs churned out by the Nashville rumor mill.
