Lol sounds good! For some reason I m drawn to those old bootlegs. It reminded me of being in high school and going from record shop to record shop trying to find a cool show. I have copies if a lot of shows on cd but there's a couple that I just want to have the "official" bootleg for. I guess people just collect different things. I used to have around fifty posters and literally everything on vinyl; I realized I would never hang those posters and admitted to myself that I just wasn't into vinyl. Instead of keeping those items I sold them and got two really pretty guitars, a nice uke, bought a lot more bootlegs , was able to see pj more and was able to do some traveling.

Great points. I am going through a crisis. I hate having all this shit laying around collecting dust. On the other hand, I have spent 20 years of my life collecting said shit (keeping the vinyl obviously). not criticizing anyones choices.

Seriously, I may have melbourne 95, let me check and if I do I will pm you.

    cheers.
That s what happened to me. I looked at all this "stuff" and asked myself what do I really want? I bootlegged my own shows in 98 and was in the old tape trading forums; unfortunately tapes went the way of the dinosaur but cd stayed. And I absolutely love listening to cd s loud!!!b so I decided to collect pj bootlegged CDs

If you have those cd s let me know! They are my holy grail .

And one could argue that THE HARDEST PEARL JAM COLLECTIBLE TO OBTAIN is a cd.

The holyiest of holy grails, goes for thousands.

  • Yeah I guess just for me personally, I can download all those CD's on the computer and take them wherever for the same quality. Vinyl on the other hand, no way.

So yea, they are definitely collectors items....but I just don't see the need to own them anymore and waste the space. But that's just me and I don't knock anyone that loves CD's.

as a collector, cds are quite collectable. the promos, certain singles, card sleeves and boots weren't released in mass production unlike TEN for example. if you had a TEN longbox sealed though, you'd be happy.
it all depends on how many were produced, sealed or unsealed and condition of item. if you are going to collect, buy 2...one for you and one to save.
with the rebirth of vinyl, originals are always the best. that's why there are all the reissues because the record companies want to take a chunk out of secondary markets and turntable sales are up.
as far a downloads, i don't think your hard drive will be collectable, it's 50% music and 50% artwork.

As a vinyl buyer I would still say definitely yes. because we live in a digital age there is a lot of stuff released on CD and download that is simply not available and never will be on vinyl. I mean it will never practical for PJ to release every bootleg on vinyl or every promo single on vinyl. The 90s saw some great CD singles or maxi-singles with 3 or 4 tracks often exclusive to those releases but with so many pressed you can pick them up for next to nothing yet try and pick up a 7 inch with less tracks of the same release and you're in an eBay bidding war. People are more passionate about vinyl and a bit snobby about CDs.

Incidentally if anyone has the PJ 5 track vs sampler with the green sleeve I would love to trade or buy.

    Paul,
When are you going to give me your extra one of these?

You know my birthday just passed and christmas is right around the corner. I mean would you even realize that this is gone from your collection? Or I could buy you beers at your local pub or get you disney passes! Be good.
