That anyone would assume they know the ethnicity of someone who's looks have never been described anywhere- that is amusing! On the other hand, Megan Kelly is a news anchor for Fox News so she must be correct... right?

    Brian...

While the OP and everybody else likely appreciates the effort to get the thread back on track... for the moment, some would like to talk about awesome miracles and how frequent and grandiose they were back then compared to the teeny weeny ones we see by Chris Angel today.

If you mean Chris as in Criss... Yup!

    What's with that, anyway?

Come on, God, give us a BIG ASS miracle. We could use one down here!

i had a similar experience in 2009 when i had long hair and a beard. someone called me jesus and i said "i am not of middle eastern descent..." and the guy was like "no man, i said you look like jesus.." and i said "we know how he looked from all of the photographic evidence, right?" and the guy was like "what are you talking about??"

we should just try to picture jesus and the 8 lb 6 oz baby jesus that ricky bobby prayed to in talladega nights...that is the jesus i picture in my head anyway...

    :D

:) Those names are transliterations/adaptations of their latin/greek/hebrew names,

So John would be, 'Yochanan' and Peter coming from 'Petra' etc.-

I always thought of him as Jewish. Not sure if that is black or white or whatever.

Everyone these days is of mixed race anyway, so why does it matter?

it's just typical of some of the conservative right to believe jesus is "theirs". it really isn't a big deal until some idiot winger makes it one.

Yes, sure. As the bible was (obviously) not originally written in English to start off with.

Also, in the chapter where the bible outlines the lineage of Jesus, they didn't "Europeanize" those names either.

Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel,
    Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
13 Zerubbabel the father of Abihud,
    Abihud the father of Eliakim,
    Eliakim the father of Azor,
14 Azor the father of Zadok,
    Zadok the father of Akim,
    Akim the father of Elihud,
15 Elihud the father of Eleazar,
    Eleazar the father of Matthan,
    Matthan the father of Jacob,
16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.

Maybe this...But yet they kept what they liked, picking and choosing what to change and what remains the same. Distorting the religion for political as well as social reasons.

Having said that, some of those above names have been adapted(?) too.
Jesus (for example) derives from late Latin, Greek? 'Jesus' would be the transliteration.
