Sirens is the epitome of blind loyalty and fanboy-ism(?) of this band (along with Ole'). My God you are all fucking nuts to think this is a good song, let alone a song this band should be associated with. For fuck's sake....
Or maybe we just have different tastes? I'm not a fanboy- I hate the bands stands on merch and ticket prices, I acknowledge that the first five albums are better than the last 5 released, I don't like when a member acts like a crybaby on stage, I despise Ole (as well as a few other songs), but I LOVE Sirens. Lyrics are fantastic and ballad style music is good too.
When other groups are charging $300 and up for just one ticket (even if you do get a lot of extras with that), I can live with the $80 or $95 for a 10C ticket with no extras.Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -

I think the song is almost over...but it's not.

I agree with you about Ole', probably the worse PJ song ever. But Sirens is great. Not the best song they've written, but a nice song, probably on the level of Given to Fly. I'm still waiting for a song on the level of Corduroy or Betterman
Infallible. maybe not, but the song is damn good. Best song on a studio album since Yield.
so you mean to say the song is not infallible as in its not perfect, or the song is not as good as the song "Infallable"? Or both?
I meant the song "Infallible" is the best song since Yield. It's soaring and catchy, but not in a pop way like The Fixer or Sirens.0 -

Love the song and couldn't give a fuck if that makes me a fanboy.
I agree with the guy above who suggests this is destined to be a classic. Liked it on first listen, and its only grown since then0 -
I like the song more than I did when I first heard it and it's catchy as hell but I still maintain it is far too cheesy and overproduced. But what the hell I can live with that.
Wouldn't get close to my favourite PJ songs over the last 10 years.2000: Manchester

The video version is less cheesy and so are the live show takes. But I prefer the cheesesevered hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

that. this bothered me too.
as for Sirens, I do like it a lot better live than on record, but I'm still not too fond of it. I think it's just out of place after that awesome getaway - MYM - my father's son rock combination...comes as a bit of a downer there.0 -
New territory sonically with that a 12 string acoustic featured so prominently, a first for PJ if I'm correct. The words are beautiful, the melody works into your brain. Nice selection for where to use background vocals. Mike's solo is great - and he switches guitars mid song to do it! Then Eddie takes up the 12 string rhythm - which is a very un-Eddie like part. And what Stone is doing throughout is so tasty!Boulder 11/26/93, Denver 3/7/94, Red Rocks 6/20/95, LA 7/14/98, Palo Alto 10/31/99, San Diego 10/25/00, San Bernadino 10/28/00, Denver 4/1/03, Denver 7/2/06, LA 7/09/06, Hollywood 7/12/06, LA 9/30/09, LA 10/6/09, San Diego 11/21/13, LA 11/23/13, LA 5/6/22, LA 5/7/22, LA 5/21/24, LA 5/22/240

Like it a lot better than I did when I first heard it (which isn't hard - I was just completely confused at first and didn't like it much). Now I think it's okay. I do LOVE the message of the song - it really hits home for me for my own personal reasons, as I think it does for a lot of people for their own reasons as well. But as far as how it actually sounds? ... well, It's okay. Still sounds pretty confused to me stylistically. But there is a faint head bop when I listen to it, so I obviously like the way it sounds to some extent. It's definitely catchy. Not even close to my favorite song on the album (closer to my least favorite on an album that I really love), but I still like it.... I don't really like the look on the faces of my friends when I play it for them though. They all get a "what the hell is this? Is that Pearl Jam???" look.
I do not see even the faintest hint of a "hate campaign" in this thread btw. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

What I see is "Sirens is the epitome of blind loyalty and fanboy-ism(?) of this band (along with Ole'). My God you are all fucking nuts to think this is a good song, let alone a song this band should be associated with. For fuck's sake...." This prompted the above also-rude comment.
That is an attack on the song and the fans who like it. Don't do that again...leave other people alone and Mind Your Manners. This is the last word in this thread on this problem. Please review the Posting Guidelines, thank you.
