Why did 10c number the pop-up Bennys separately?

Why does it matter if its numbered POP X? Seems it would only matter for re-sale value. I'm confused why this is even a discussion seeing it was never issued with intent for others to re-distribute.

Just enjoy it. If i'm missing something let me know. I won't understand the PJ is supporting a secondary market argument so give me something else. Look at backspacer. Seems they made enough for everyone because of previous demand and now they can't sell their stock at 15$. They don't produce enough and then they produce to many.

In summary who cares how its numbered?

Right...I respect this viewpoint. If it really doesn't matter how it's numbered, and 10c seriously never had any expectations that this would be redistributed and the value upon re-distribution would be raised, it seems they would have gone the simple route and numbered all Bennys in the most straightforward manner - that is, with simple numbers. Assigning some Bennys a POP12 or POP13 is drawing a distinction between these ones and the ones which were originally sold in 2004 or whatever - which again, encourages value-based distinctions.

I'm just saying be consistent. If it's just about listening and the music, number them in the most straightforward way, and yeah, by all means re-press on black vinyl! Tons of people would buy it, as evidenced by this thread. But if you're going to employ a more complex numbering system based on when the item was sold, acknowledge that you're implicitly encouraging a value-based collectors' mentality.

Yes, reissue it already! Make it to order, give the money to charity. Pack it simple, press it in black. We all just want to spin it. Leave the wine coloured thing to the collectors... Make a vinyl lover edition!

I couldn't care less what the number says , it's a sealed Benny set worth exactly what the others are. It's the same item

when you order LPs to be pressed you usually get more than you ordered

the pressing plant quotes you for say 2000 but then they buy enough vinyl pellets and have enough stampers to make enough so that you get at least as many you ordered that pass QC. its not uncommon to get an extra 10% of what you ordered if there were very few problems with the pressing. and once they have everything set up to press your album its not much time or effort to press some extras.

this is just for the discs i dont think its quite the same on the paper products (all the packaging) for all i know maybe they did have to order some extra boxes etc and just submitted the same design, but maybe not

it should be noted the pop up ones were shrink wrapped after being numbered POP13

there is usually a small incision in the wrap to write underneath the shrink wrap

thats what i lead to believe but i didnt notice one on this one, and it wasnt the loosest shrink wrap i have ever seen but it definitely wasnt tight, it seems to me it was (possibly re-)shrink wrapped after they numbered it

I guess if one was bought to play it wouldn't matter, but this shows it was bought only to be flipped if it ends up on ebay..and buyer knows seller only paid $350.

I don't get that... as opposed to one that's not from the pop up sale, where the buyer knows the seller only paid $40?! (or whatever it cost in 2003). Yeah I know some people bought them for hundreds even after 2003... but we all know the original was $1000 or 800 or even 350... the value has gone up. If someone waited in line in the cold to buy a POP13 version, and they put it on ebay, what does it matter?
