I listened twice through before putting up my review. All in all I enjoyed the album. These guys are very eclectic due to the many different instruments employed thoughout the record.
The Breeze - Enjoyed the lyrics and whimsical backing vocals. Hold On - I like this guys voice more than the other singer. I like the guitar tone and "boogie" sounding piano. The Old Days - Has a very Beatles-esque sound to me. Army of Ancients - I like the horn flourishes. I like the lyrics and imagery (twiddling my thumbs, whistling dixie) and growly vocals. The Rabbit, the Bat and the Reindeer - Nothing really stuck out for me with this song. It was just ok. The Ark - I like the opening riff and bass line. The drum fills and background noises match the war related lyrics. My favorite so far. Reminded me of I Want You (She So Heavy) at times. From - A dreamy, sleepy little ditty. I like the solo and piano. 100 Years - I love the mandolin and harmonies early in the song. Didn't care much for the "la la la" middle section. Uncovering the Old - I like the melody of the verses. The Beach - Love the bluesy and growling sound. The is my favorite song on the album. My Friend - Jammiest guitar of the album and I like jam bands a lot. I liked it immediately.
I really liked this album as much as their other albums. I would give it 4 stars out of 5. My only complaint would be the vocalist on track 1 (and others) isn't as good as the other guy. I really like the bluesiness and growl of him. But I can see me listening to this album in the rotation. Thanks for the recommendation.

Glad you enjoyed it, and I agree with alot of your take. Definitely hear alot of Beatles influence. Always thought it was a mix of Abbey Road era and The Band.
The Ark is probably my favorite tune. Such a great groove. Used to cover this tune with my band and it would always get heads bobbin throughout the bar. A tough challenge for such an unknown tune. Coincidentally, I always thought a She's So Heavy/The Ark super song would be really cool tune, but could never get the other guys to go with it.
I go back and forth on which singer I prefer. I think they each sing the tunes that they write. However they divide it, they are spot on with the singer choice with each song imo. The raspy singer's voice fits the groove heavy stuff and the other guy's higher, sweeter voice fits the poppier leaning quite well.
Dewie, I agree with your assessment of the vocal comparisons. I like the other softer voice just prefer the bluesy one more. Thanks for the rec.

The Breeze- I really like the guitar in the beginning. It is a very nice song and I like the harmonies a lot. Hang On- I like the beat to the song and the harmonies are awesome. The Old Days-I really like the piano and the carnival vibe. It is really cool sounding. Army of Ancients- I like the bass and his bluesy singing. The Rabbit, the Bat and the Reindeer-I really like it, probably my second favorite. I like the bass and drive of it a lot. The Ark-I am digging the heavy guitar and I like the sudden transition from soft harmonies to Toby’s yelling. From-This song is really fun and I like the choo-choo train part with the harmonies backing Scott’s voice. 100 Years- I like the main chorus and the “100 years from now” part. Uncovering the Old- It is really cool how the clock starts the song and it is really groovy. I like how the song builds, too. The Beach- This bluesy song is amazing and so powerful live. He sings it with so much feeling and it is probably my favorite song off of the album. My Friend- I like the guitar and it is a really good way to end the album.
Probably my favorite singer is Scott because sometimes, I just think that Toby is really overly dramatic and I really like how mellow Scott's voice is. If you get a chance to see them live, do it. They are amazing!
Anybody else wanna weigh in on Fate, or we can just move on to the next album. Despite limited participation, I think this thread has been pretty neat. Looking forward to future recommendations.
Anybody can join in. Just curious where were you all able to find this album? My usual source didn't have it. After reading the amazon reviews and write up I really want to hear it.

I've given it a few turns on you tube and it has something can't make out what as of yet. I'm not over the moon about it, but there are some really nice songs. I couldn't find the whole album so I listened to somebodies play list. It has a sixties feel to it. I'll try to find the album you suggested, or perhaps you have a link.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

Okay since there is nothing being posted I thought lets give it a go. I'd like to over a great album from an English band called the music. The Album is from 2002 and is also called the Music. I think the album is absolutely brilliant. Number 8 is a different sort of Getaway.

not a part of the group, but excellent choice. Loved them. Unfortunately don't have this album. Have their follow up, Welcome To The North and Strength In Numbers. Also had the "Take The Long Road And Walk It" single with he Walls Get Smaller.
