Album of the week listening group?

Might anyone be interested in creating a listening group? Someone could pick a non-PJ album each week and we could discuss? Is this an old idea here? I see the quantity of music consumed around here and it appears a lot of people are listening to a bunch. Anyone for "Expanding our musical horizons: Share your musical interests by discussing other artists you're hearing"? :)

Second Album of the week : Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push the Sky Away

I'd be in, whether it's something new or older stuff.

Driftin' you could be first, a question for the group, might we be able to share files for this?

I was wondering about that too actually. I am cool doing some research (youtube, amazon samples, etc) to locate something if I don't already have it. Should we all list our top 5 or so bands so we can get to know a little more about eachother's listening preferences? We don't have to list PJ either, I think we get it. :D
My other top bands are (which can and do change on a weekly basis sometimes):
My Morning Jacket
Widespread Panic
Grateful Dead
The Doors
The Black Keys
Kings of Leon

If no introduction is needed then we can just start ... I'll put it to a vote
Something classic: The Rolling Stone - Exile on Main Street
Something newer: The Wild Feathers - Self Titled

Week one album - The Wild Feathers - Self Titled

Maybe we could use this:

• I post here mostly from work and am not able to do any external links and what not. I may not be regular about checking the dropbox link or anything but I have the Wild Feathers album so I will post my review some time today. Hopefully I am able to get to that link for future Albums of the Week.

• The Wild Feathers - Self Titled (2013)
Reminds me of: Dawes, Blitzen Trapper & the Black Crowes
Musical strengths: Harmonies, Multiple lead vocalists, southern rock/blues/gospel sounds & Hammond b3 flourishes.
Musical weaknesses: Some of the guitar solos just didn’t do anything for me. Some songs had fairly strong lyrics while other felt forced and simple.
Stand out tracks: Backwoods Company (cool riff), Tall Boots (lead guitar licks/organ), The Ceiling (great acoustic lick, soulful outro), Left My Woman (gospelly in a good way), If You Don’t Love Me (well done sad song), Hard Times (I am a sucker for songs that mention trains), Got It Wrong (has a good vibe), How (black crowes-ish & bluesy), Kitchen Breeze (the good kind of country song),
Not so good tracks: American (very basic), I’m Alive (this is where the organ doesn’t do it for me & lyrics are nothing special), Hard Wind (don’t like the solo), Wine & Vinegar (just ok for me & a strange album ender),
Comments: This album has a current but 70’s vibe simultaneously. I like them more when they are playing slower songs beacuse the quicker songs seem forced at times. I could listen to this album sitting on the porch around sundown with a cold beer.
Rating: B/B-
What say you?

• I will try to load the mp3 files to the dropbox link above when I get home in case some of you don't have it or can't find it to stream or anything. Hope you all like it. I like this thread though because I am always down with finding new things and sharing things that I've found that others may not have...

I've never really used dropbox before. Do I just click on the link you posted in an above post and load the files there. Then you and anybody else should just be able to access them? Sorry...

Yeah I'll join in this where I can as long as the stuff is on Spotify. I'm a taxi driver so I can listen to stuff while driving about.
All my favourite singers have stolen all of my best lines.

This is my first time trying this...hopefully it worked. Let me know if it didn't. I tried and was able to get it but it appeared that some of the files weren't there. Please let me know what you see. And if some are missing please help me to fix it.

There should have been a folder with a rainbow on the screen in dropbox. That would have been the "share" button. Dropbox would have then asked you for emails to "share the folder with. If you want, to try it, my email is buck502000@yahoo.com. I did find the album on Spotify. I will let everyone know what I think of it later this week. Good listening! :)

I also like Wilco, Ray Lamontagne, The Black Crowes & old Counting Crows. I think you will like a majority of the songs on the Wild Feathers record. Maybe not...but that's part of the fun of this thread. Trying something new. I can't wait for the next album up.

I have listened a couple of times, and I like it well enough too. But, probably not something, at least for me, that would be added to the rotation.
