By far the best of the three EV shows I've seen. The only way he can top this one tomorrow is if he brings out Neil.

parting ways, seeker, long may you run were amazing surprises.

I totally thought this was going to happen last night.....when he started saying there are certain venues that belong to certain singers, i.e. folsom prison to johnny cash, massey hall to neil, etc, it would have been perfect if he then said "so i decided to invite him along and here he is....."

    Imagine???

    Yes the show was unreal.

    Liam was outstanding too.

Too bad aboout the wankers sitting behind me who talked (damn near yelled) at the top of their voices through his entire set. Very respectful. Wankers. Why do they always sit near me?

And then "oh this is a Neil Young tune man" as Ed starts into Long May You Run. So the guy behind me tries to sing through the whole song, and, you guessed it, he didn't know the words, and couldnt carry a tune. Thanks man, you really added to my experience.

Why can't people just shut up and let the musicians perform? Scream, yell, whatever in between tunes, but why do you have to talk and try to sing along? Oh yeah, dude, if you read this, the harmonies you sang during Setting Forth were really crazy man - I've never heard anything so dissonent (dude, that's different from Dissident, but kinda similar).

    wankers.

Hail Hail! I wasnt at the TO show, but MAN, I know where you're coming from.

Eddie was in a great mood tonight. Telling random funny stories... one about a homeless guy he met who lost his prosthetic leg... one about how he almost accidentally pissed on Massey Hall... he said he would rather play Massey Hall than Folsom Prison when he was talking about legendary venues.
Eddie was also amusingly killing all the hecklers in the crowd. Just like a comedian.

Setlist (no particular order) from what I can remember:

    Walking the cow (surprise)
    Trouble
    Sometimes
    Dead Man
    Far Behind
    No Ceiling
    Seeker
    I am Mine
    MOTH
    Last Kiss
    Rise
    Parting Ways
    Picture in a Frame
    No More
    Goodbye
    Driftin'
    Hide Your Love Away
    Long May You Run
    Porch
    Here's to the State
    Broken Heart
    Small Town
    Arc
    Guaranteed
    Hard Sun
    Believe you me/wishlist

there were too many hecklers in the crowd. It was overwelming at times but ed handled them as best he could. How do i say this...montreal audiences were better even with the buffoon yelling "eddieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" all night.

Like ed said he even 'wanted to hear some music'

Hopefully tonight's crowd will be better.

The merchandise booth jacked the price of the button/sticker pack from $5 in montreal to $10 in toronto.

I was going to get another set but what the f is going on?

Aw man, Did he do the whole thing? If it's the same way as San Diego, then I can live with that. From the way they listed it with Wishlist, I guess it is kind of the same way (or so I console myself)
Shame on Vedderman for giving East coast much more love than he did us :P

He basically did play the whole song in sd... he didn't play the fast end and the outro... the one or two verses is that song... imo, the rest of the song sucks anyway.

Its from the Sean Penn/ Susan Sarandan movie called Dead Man Walking. Its on the soundtrack.

Hmmm....all I see is Springsteen's version of that song on the tracklisting, along with Long Road and The Face Of Love.
Am I missing something, or does he cover the Springsteen version live?

I had blast last night, the set-list was incredible, hearing Parting Ways was a real treat and Sometimes sounded great solo.

I can't say anything new that hasn't been said in this thread, some of you have great memories. I was out till 2 AM drinking with a couple of roudy Yankees from Buffalo, it was alot of fun.

Looking forward to tonight, heading to the pre-party soon

  • Last night was incredible. The roar when Eddie came out to the cover of elderly woman was intense. Great stories from Eddie, some comments were just awful but others seems to spark Eddie and get the crowd laughing. One guy behind me kept yelling "tell us a story" He looked like a moron. Next time stay home and buy the bootleg buddy, you were an embarrassment. Eddies line about "it's hard not to be cocky when you're up here by yourself" was classic. He then started with walking the cow and messed up "I guess I'm not cocky enough" he said before beginning again. That was an experience for sure, glad I was there to witness it.
The yelling was pretty annoying at times, ESPECIALLY when Eddie was speaking...fuck let the guy talk. It was the same with Neil last year though...small venues are dangerous!! Amazing show!! Everyone going tonight get pumped!

The ending of Arc when he shook everyone hands was pretty impressive.

Does anyone remember the guys name who wrote that rendition of Elderly woman for the intro?
  • Dude, can I have my lighter back please? You know who you are. I hope you and your wife enjoyed the show.

I wrote it down as 'Embru' but I could be wrong. Can anyone re-tell that part of the show? I couldn't hear it all that well. From what I gathered, Embru, a guy [from where?] wrote [what?] as a gift to EV's brother and it turned out to be a great gift to EV. I think EV's brother has worked with Embru - anyone know what they were working on (assuming it was PJ related). As you can see - am totally sketchy on the details.

Ya I'm pretty sure that's the name. He was saying something about his brother had helped him work on the Life Wasted video, and some thing about Africa as well. The rendition of elderly woman was a gift to Eddie or his brother not sure which...I think adrenaline was taking over my concentration at that point in the night! Thanks for the info
  • Can not wait until tonite! Any chance of getting the times that Liam and then Eddie hit the stage and when Eddie finished, trying to figure out if I should take the GO or not!!

I think Liam went on right at 7:30, Eddie came out about 8:50 and played until about 11:10 or so.
