Wow. Totally speechless. Got a new song from apparently way back, some great conversations between Eddie and the audience, FOURTH ROW CENTER SEATS COURTESY OF TEN CLUB, and the acoustics only Massey Hall can offer. About two and a half hours long.
Songs I can remember off-hand in no particular order:
Parting Ways with Liam
Hard Sun with Liam
Arc (GREAT loops)
Walking the Cow
Sometimes
Drifting
Believe You Me/Wishlist
Long May You Run
Trouble
I Am Mine
Dead Man
Man of the Hour
Setting Forth
Guaranteed
No Ceiling
Far Behind
Rise
Goodbye
Broken Hearted
Here's to the State
No More
Hide Your Love Away
Porch
Society with Liam
Last Kiss
The Seeker
Long May You Run
Picture in a Frame
Quite hilarious conversations:
"Will you play at my wedding?" "Truthfully, I'm surprised you're getting married"
"Play without the speakers!" "Why don't I play without the speakers, you can leave, and if it's loud enough you can come back in"
A whole story about peeing behind Massey Hall
Another story about a one-legged bicycle rider
That was my friends wife who yelled about playing at her wedding, which i will be attending......it was pretty funny to hear eddie's response......I told her that she better use Picture in a Frame at her wedding now that Eddie dedicated it to her!
Not at all....didn't mean to give that impression...I was just having a wee bit of fun (get it?) with you based on your handle...Besides, I used to say in high school (long before Ed ever said it), it is far better to pissed off than to be pissed on...
Aw man, Did he do the whole thing? If it's the same way as San Diego, then I can live with that. From the way they listed it with Wishlist, I guess it is kind of the same way (or so I console myself)
Shame on Vedderman for giving East coast much more love than he did us :P
wow the seeker, believe you me... new song even last kiss is cool... eds startin to really get HOT on this tour now...
oh my. reading all the responses, has got me even more excited than ever for tomorrow night. I have been counting down the days since I purchased a ticket. I cannot wait. I'll be the girl crying. hahaha!
Fantastic show! I especially loved the banter between the crowd and Eddie (save for the people requesting songs every 3 seconds).
Some great stories and great music.
Highlights included - Long May You Run and the Fantastic rendition Ed did at the end of the second encore (before Hard Sun)
Yeah, I don't know what it is with people yelling song requests; I figure by now, they must know that it really has no affect on the setlist, so I can only think they do it because they think it's funny or makes them sound cool. Note to these people: IT IS NOT FUNNY and DOES NOT MAKE YOU SOUND COOL. One person yelled out in reponse: "Play whatever you want!", to which Ed responsed by turning his head in interest to the person and nodding his head with a look of "Well, there's a good idea..."
"The Who at Leeds, Johnny Cash at Folsom Prision, Neil Young at Massey Hall" - classic!
THANK YOU TEN CLUB!!! NOW JUST HAVE PJ PLAY AN ALL 10C SHOW AT MASSEY HALL!
Fuckin' great sound, great songs and Ed is one hell of a personable person by himself on stage. My better half got to shake his hand so we both went home happy.
First of all, I had a great time at the show. Liam was a pleasant surprise. I was suggest anyone going to see eddie to definitely show up and see Liam.
Do people realize that Eddie has a setlist that he is going to follow? Yelling "play Black!!" between each song isn't going to help.
Also, what's with all the hecklers? Ed starts to go into a story and then is interrupted by some idiot who wants to be apart of the show. I do see why Ed isn't releasing the bootlegs for the solo tour. In between every song he is battling 10 people yelling out random stuff.
Posted this in the "eV Wishlist Toronto pre-party" thread, but wanted to spread the word to all those attending the Toronto show this evening and considering the pre-party, as perhaps this might seal the deal for you:
Well, things came down to the wire late yesterday afternoon, but everything worked out well in the end,...
I'm proud/excited to post that Ed has personally donated a SIGNED poster for TONIGHT'S pre-party auction to benefit the White Ribbon Campaign. Ed signed the poster sold at Toronto I with a silver sharpie and the signature is BRILLIANT! The poster was signed at 6:45pm yesterday at Massey Hall and was then handed to me so I can assure you it has been handled VERY carefully. For those attending tonight's pre-party, get there EARLY and make sure to place your bid for the BEAUTIFUL poster to help a VERY worthwhile cause!
To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

great show!! ... although i must say i can do without the people that yell out while he's trying to tell a story or in the middle of a song ... are you really that selfish?
in any case - the guitar for MOTH hour gave me chills and ARC was one of those moments that i will remember for the rest of my life ... long may you run (always loved that song) ...
Eddie was in a great mood and he was really really funny.
Toronto got some real gems last night.
"Long May You Run" (Neil Young)
"Believe You Me" (Bad Radio...never expected to hear that one)
"Parting Ways" w/Liam Finn
"The Seeker" (The Who)
"Last Kiss" (normally can't stand this one but the sing-a-long was cool)
"Driftin" (Best live version I've ever heard)
- The pissing on Massey Hall story "Massey Hall?...You can't piss on Massey Hall"!!
- The one legged homless guy on the bike story
Best line of the night....
Eddie is talking about sing-a-longs and how "The band he plays in" tends to get alot of sing-a-longs at their shows....Then this guy from the crowd yells out..."Eddie...what band do you play in again"? to which Eddie responds..."Umm...Stone Temple Pilots".
"Society" with Liam Finn was perfect
"Man of the Hour" nearly brought me to tears
"Arc" alone was a highlight...You could hear a pin drop in the place. Everyone was dead silent as Eddie did his thing...It is beyond words how amazing his voice sounded looping around and filling the hall. When it was finished the crowd just erupted like they just won the Stanley Cup and gave Eddie a huge standing ovation...Eddie was visibly moved by the crowd reaction and showed us that he had goose bumps on his arms...Magical moment...Magical night.

Just curious if he relayed what his take was on the whole sing a long thing at the PJ shows?? Does he like it?
got a car...got some gas...oh let's get out of here-get out of here fast...
I hope you get this message but your not home...I will be there in just a minute or so...
I want to go but I want to go with you.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. -MT
I've had enough, said enough, felt enough. I'm fine, still in it.
Just curious if he relayed what his take was on the whole sing a long thing at the PJ shows?? Does he like it?
He didn't address state his opinion on the sing-alongs at Pearl Jam shows...but you could tell that he was moved by the sing-alongs in Toronto that night...at the end of the night he refered to us as the "Massey Hall singers".
Was it just me or did he introduce millworker and then play here's to the state?
No its not just you - that's what he did!
I agree on the people yelling stuff out - please, people - when Ed's in the middle of some story, PLEASE be quiet and let the man tell it- yelling when he's trying to talk just spoils it for everyone. He is the one putting on the show after all and he shouldn't have to struggle to get a story out ya know?
Lovely lovely show. It was a treat to hear Long May You Run and The Seeker; Parting Ways was the surprise.

Was it just me or did he introduce millworker and then play here's to the state?
Yeah...I think he called a last minute audible on "Millworker"...which sucked because it was one of the songs that I was really looking forward to hearing.
Don't get me wrong I dig "Here's to the State" and all...but I think some of the politics were lost on the Canadian audience not familiar with Alberto Gonzalez and Jerry Halliwell.
Some idiot chick behind me kept asking her boyfriend "who is he singing about honey? Who is he singing about"?
I was disapointed in the crowd during "No More".
Eddie's emotion alone was enough to carry the song. It was a really good intense performance...but I kind of felt bad that no one in the audience really sang along to it and it kind of fell flat...compared to some of the other sing-alongs of the night.
I know Eddie really wants the crowd participation for "No More" but I'm finding with the wrong type of crowd...that it just kind of falls flat sometimes and feels kind of forced.
Wow. Totally speechless. Got some great conversations between Eddie and the audience, FOURTH ROW CENTER SEATS COURTESY OF TEN CLUB, and the acoustics only Massey Hall can offer. About two and a half hours long.
EDIT: I apologize for my lack of knowledge of Neil Young's catalogue - the song I had previously stated was a new song was indeed Long May You Run by Neil.

being a fan since '94 or so (The Atlanta Live Release sold me) I never thought I would be able to experience a night as I did last night.
A few highlights for me.
Being that its Massey, I hoped that an "Uncle Neil" song would be played, and as luck would have it, a great one..Long May You Run. a favorite.
No More - beautiful, he was so passionate about it.
ARC - Amazing, and something ill never forget.
Porch - got me reminising of MTV Unplugged
believe You Me - Took me a minute to figure it out, nice surprise!
Dead Man - sounded great.
Trouble - Has always been a favorite, so nice to hear. Love that tune.
LIAM! what a pleasure, Im glad the people on hear got me hyped. i was dedicated to not missing his set.
Can't wait for tonight. Thank you Ed, thank you Ten club for the great tixs!

The "new song" was actually Long May You Run by Neil Young. Honestly, it was the highlight of the whole night for me.
