I attended all three SF shows, Camden 1+2, and D.C., just so you know where my biases might lie. I've listened to all of those boots plus many more. In my opinion, the best boot in terms of quality, setlist, song performance is SF 3.

The SF shows in general blew the Camden shows out of the water. Never would have guessed it beforehand.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

I havent heard a lot of the European boots, but the crowd in Newcastle is decent....

Crowd seems to come through better in Sydney 3 though. (2 verses of better man, Mike and Matt chants, and over all quite good.)

The crowd at Newy was unreal, not just cos I was in it. They were up for everything...

i.e starting the chant in Daughter and getting Ed onto it, Mike coming into the crowd (albeit very briefly), getting a massive set, it was mindblowing.

I think the observation from Ed 'This feels more like a party than a concert' sums it up
‘‘If somebody said to me, in twelve years you’ll be in a band with your brother and two carrot munching geezers who don’t like football I would have said fuck off, I’m not joining the Bee Gees.’’

I was there and the boot does it no justice. It's really badly mixed. All the way through you can hear peoples' voices, particularly someone yelling 'Eddivedduuuuuuuur' every bloody five minutes. Great setlist, but the boot is rubbish. Same as Verona and Athens.

Didn't look like it from where I was.. looked to be a lot of people in the stands sitting down for much of that show (cos of the setlist I'm guessing)! But still, sounds good on the boot.

    Entirely biased, but
    Boston II
    Camden II
    Boston I

    In that order.

  • I'm going with Gorge II, Gorge I and LA2.

If you guys haven't caught LA2 you should... they guys were on fire. Incredible version of Betterman, the best Matt Cameron Evenflow solo I've ever heard along... with rockin versions of Why Go, Porch and Leash.

And let's not forget Sad, Down, and a reverse Mamasan. It's great.

Also, just listen to Marseille which is awesome. Can't wait to hear Hawaii 12/2!!

    SAN FRANCISCO III 7/18/06

Light Years: 1 of 2 times played in '06

"This just feels like a San Francisco song...."
They had only played Watchtower twice before, ever. SHAZAM!
(And then yeah, yeah very next show .... but I'll take Renaldo's solos!)

I Am Mine acoustic opener, oh yeah! (But then all the acoustic eddie openers were pretty unique....)

UNTITLED -- Only played at SF III, amen!
Light Years -- TWICE this tour, amen!
MFC -- three times US tour (and five more overseas)
In Hiding - six times US tour (and four more overseas)
Down - six times US tour (and four more overseas)
Release - seven times US tour (and three more overseas)

and then the songs that were played at least 1/3 of the tour or more...
    man o hour
    and leash
and the BOOMtastic "dueling banjos" solo of Boom and Mike on Crazy Mary..

And don't be comparing our intimate lil 7000 fans in the Civic Center to any of your arena or amphitheatre shows! Or actually DO COMPARE! The noise level at the end of Watchtower and Eddie's Guitar surfing adventure is staggering!

And I feel ok, cause NOBODY got Sonic Reducer....
    [sic] happens

I went to the show and it was excellent. The opener wasn't a standout (WWS), but it seems to have fit well in retrospect. A very long RITFW and excellent Watchtower were standouts, as well as a rare appearance by Stone on drums for YL. Of the shows I actually went to, they rank as follows:

    Gorge 1
    SD
    Portland
    Gorge 2
Las Vegas (Although, I probably listen to this boot the most due to the excellent setlist [and best version of Inside Job all tour!]. . . go figure)

For show I didn't attend, the Grand Rapids and SF3 were both great and are recommended. I have not heard anything else, so I can't make any crazy assumptions that Gorge 1 was the best all tour, but I can state that it was a damn good show.
