If belief in god is the reason why you are not out there "fucking some shit up", then you are not a good person at all, just a fearful one. Your assertion that others must believe in god regardless of what they say, is merely a reflection of your own limited perspective.
not to mention offensive.
It's a surprisingly common misconception though, some people are incapable of seeing the world through anything but the prism of religion, or superstition. They are incapable of thinking in any other way, It's simply an inconceivable state of mind for them.0 -

We'll all be like animals, then. Fucking shit up. It is human decision to regulate human behaviour. For our own long-term good. So that it will be in the interests of the human race, as a whole. SO we do the regulation, laws, courts, etcc.. so that we dont act like animals do.
You dont need a God to do that regulation. Animals dont have the mind to do that regulation, themselves. So they fuck shit up.What's your part, who you are?

you know what though??? I am sure that there are times when I appear offensive to the believers. its not that I set out to do so(why would I?).. tis just that if I were a super hero... id be logic girl. I cant help it.. its the way I was raised... sure some people might see an issue with me not being able to take that leap of faith that has me laying my soul bare to some concept that is defined as God.. and fuck knows there was a time when I was younger( age 11 and very impressionable) where all it would've taken was the right touch or word... the right explanation... and maybe I wouldve dropped to my knees... but it didn't happen.. and it never has since. and that has had me wondering ever since why?.. what is it about me that hasn't allowed faith to break through... to take hold of me? ... why would God forsake a child looking for answers? did He know I was way too smart for the bullshit? did He know what mankind had turned his word into was just a giant pile of crap and so far removed from his original intention it could never be salvaged?or is it that id already received the answers I seeked? or is it simply that he doesn't exist???hear my name

Really? Is this the way to prove existence of God, now? Since Hitler has existed, it means there should be a God somewhere.
I think religion supporters should turn back to classical models of God proof. Like, there should be a wise intelligence who designed all of this. This cannot happen by itself. At least, there will be an argument going on.
wise intelligence??? you say this (whatever that is) can not happen by itself. why not? and what is the this you speak of?
I'm sorry, I think I misphrased myself.
What I'm saying is; it might be easier for religion supporters and non-supporters to find common ground on the basis of an acceptance of wise intelligence.
You might still be a skeptical, a non-believer but still could find the idea reasonable that there is a wise intelligence behind all of this design. From that perspective, you might try to find some common ground with religion believers. A wise intelligence that is not there to judge and punish but just exists...
When the believers start to talk with terms like heaven/hell, evil/good, they start to make no sense at all. IMO. Like the OP did. What's your part, who you are?

the 'wise intelligence' I see is life itself. it manifests itself every single day in every single action by every single life form on earth. it doesn't judge... it doesnt seek validation... it goes about its business cyclically so that everything fits so that everything that goes around, comes around. I don't need some other layer of supposed explanation.. I am okay with the ways things are.. I don't need some deeper meaning to a life that doesn't necessarily, and most likely doesn't have one. life et al., is the perfect symbiotic organism. it doesn't need an exterior 'wise intelligence' pulling the strings cause it is in itself the wise intelligence... and that intelligence is all inclusive.hear my name

It's pretty presumptuous for humans to judge what is "intelligent life" and what isn't. What if we're not intelligent life? The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.

You'd be incorrect.
I don't believe in god or the afterlife. But morality is not lost on me as the result of my views. Why am I not "fucking shit up"? Easy: I know that being a good person is the right thing to do. It doesn't take faith to see that basic decency is a good thing.
Golden rule? Ten commandments? Seems pretty basic to me.
This! Morality does not come exclusively from religion. I have no particular religious views, but I have a strong sense of ethics.
As far as what happens to the "soul" I haven't a clue. I am a fairly strong believer in Karma in this life. I'd like to think that reincarnation is possible, and that evil people come back as something or someone very lowly.0 -

they are called agnostic ... those who don't are called atheists ... as it relates to a higher power ...
I took that a little differently. For example, I believe in being good to my fellow humans and other inhabitants of this planet, and to the environment that we all share. I have ethical beliefs, but that doesn't mean that I believe in a higher power (personally I haven't ruled it out, so I guess I would say that I am agnostic)0 -
THE LOOK wrote:What happens to the souls of people, that have caused great harm, ( Hitler, etc. ) here on earth?
Just curious....
That is a question that needs to be asked to the the people founded in religion. Those of us that have not yet found a religion that believes in us will answer, 'We don't know'.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

I don't know, I guess I just worry about my soul. based on my theory they are in the bed the made for themselves.
there is mathematical proof that other dimensions exist even though we cannot see them at the moment or with our eyes.
I know that my time here is all I have in my human, conscious mind. I'm on the fence about whether or not I can "shift" my current view of life and see a dimension not normally visible. If I ever do manage to cull that skill, and the board is still here, I will let you know what I find.
If it is meant for part of my being to go into another form of life or being then I shall live that in whatever capacity I am granted.
I'm open.

How about this: what if our souls are simply our thoughts, some of which are random and some of which are more intentional like the one's that are connected to our actions. And this: thoughts, being electrical impulses, emanate from our head out into space. And space being curved, means our thoughts will eventually will come back around. Would that be what is meant by reincarnation? And what about the nature of our thoughts as related to how they travel? Do negative thoughts hold a different charge and dissipate whereas positive thoughts ride as smoother, more steady, and consistent waves that travels back here more readily?
Just a thought. (I wonder where it will go?)"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

absolutely negative thoughts are different than positive thoughts. I get a fucking headache from negative thoughts and nothing but calm from positive thoughts so....
I don't agree with your hypothesis of what reincarnation is.. simply because I don't believe that concept as we define it exists. as matter on this planet can not be added to or subtracted from(so ive heard) I believe that when we(and everything else) are returned to the ground(from where we came) the atoms(no longer needed for their previous use) are rearranged into something else.. be it a raccoon or a flower or a rock or human. that's the concept of reincarnation I accept.
