I hear some of the posts here...I don't want it to be so, but the idea of European dates this year is very unlikely  after all, tis only 2 years ago this summer they were here, and since then there's been precious little activity anywhere...15 shows or something.
I'l keep some things crossed, but I won't hold my breath.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

i've got a year to save then by the sounds of it :(

i've got way to much to pay for this year anyhow, so maybe its a good thing (for me at least)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

If PJ doesn't come, I think Ed would do worse than to book a one-off acoustic gig at The Barbican. It's a 3000 capacity venue, and it's a lovely reverberant room in Central London with easy access to King's Cross and Liverpool Street.
:? well, if finding your way through a maze is your idea of easy then yes.

Plus I've been there once when the RSC had London residence there, and I remember it as cavernous (that was a while mind you, and Theatremonkey seems to say there isn't a bad seat in the house, though they're judging about classical concerts mostly).
never been but the Central Hall in westminster is around the same size, but more stylish, like a mini-Albert Hall.
...but I think all those are too big (2000+)

Union chapel is nice and atmospheric for 'acoustic' gigs (a bunch of us are going there tonight to see Gutter Twins  )..might be a bit small at around 800, but otherwise would be the perfect place.

...and there's several theatres in the 1000+ capacity, even if they're not usually used for concerts and many have ongoing musicals in residence.

Don't you think Ed would be able to fill a 3000 venue in London? I think he would, I mean if it was just a London date then people would travel from all over, most likely have to add another date. That Apollo in Hammersmith is pretty nice, and around 3000 I think.

Not sure he could fill it (there wouldn't be just London in Europe I'd assume), but anyway it's too big I mean in terms of non-intimate size (and not the best acoustic)...on the other hand it's VERY handy for me, I'd be home in 10mn  ...after the pub of course ;)

That's definitely true. Hopefully, all the baby making is out of the way for awhile and we can all get our fix!

I have no specifics about tour type, but all signs point to a 2006-like tour.

You should let me know if Istanbul is in the works. None of these people care about that so feel free to just PM me with the info :D
I have no patience for bad music and stupid people...

  • I really hope they come to Glasgow this year. That would be cool if it was like the 2006 tour. The paris gig was awsome.

Well I haven't posted in a while so hi all... how's everybody doin'?

I like the new site and all... and I would love the "Tour" section to be showing some dates soon and it would be great if they were this side of the planet... I live in Spain now and I still remember the "ole ole" improv in Barcelona 3 years ago... so it would be great if they did it again! Sure it wouldn't matter if they played Istanbul or Helsinki or Reykijavik or Sarajevo... I would go anyway!

so fingers crossed and let's all hope for a PJEU2009...

Well even though I live in Colorado and wish they would come here, I would be down to have an excuse to finally go to see Dublin.

I don't know if this is good news for us Europeans or not, depends a lot on interpretation :). Anyway. The administrator Ringrocker.Com (a German speaking community for people attending Rock am Ring) has recieved news from MLK (the people behind RAR) that PJ won't play there as they are not available until September. But it might also mean that we could see them some time during fall 2009 over here again. Speculation? Sure. That's the fun part :D
