Seems like a win-win and a lot different than throwing it up on eBay for triple the cost.
I'm in the same boat. I will be getting mine framed as well, but if for some crazy reason there was somebody willing to trade their Hess Cleveland '94 for it then I wouldn't hesitate one second to pull the trigger. I'd be insane not to. I'm not going to knock a guy for inquiring...but for full disclosure you can buy the Wrigley mural for $100+ less than what the murals are sitting on Ebay for. Again...I know not everyone has cash in hand so good luck. And I'm just talking about the show edition of the Kong.

I really don't see anything wrong with asking for a specific poster and not taking offers, but I do agree you should probably wait until you have the damn thing.

Bump for the OP.... The guy isn't asking for $ or even fielding offers for the print. It's not that big of a deal imho.

While I can understand people who think it's bad timing, it doesn't bother that much at the end if the day. EDIT: I also think people on here are assuming the worst right off the bat. If the OP was in it for profit, why would he be wasting his time here?

It's just a poster people. Too big of a deal is being made over it.

(And for the record, I really wanted the poster, but got hung up in the cluster#uck on Munkone's site, so I am one of those who got shut out for this poster; did I want it? Hell yeah. Will my life go on? Yeah, it will.)

@OP..... Good luck finding your Kong poster.

I'll chime... I dealt with this guy once. Complained and said a poster I sent him wasn't "mint". It was exactly as I received it. Never even looked at it to be honest, but I gave him $20 back just to shut him up. Wish I didn't now.
Lol dude if you didn't even look at it how would you know. Not to mention i did send you pictures. I did appreciate that 20 bucks though. You had good customer service and I did acknowledge that.

Did I mention I paid you 3x what the poster was purchased for

Lol dude? The poster was 60 bucks plus shipping from Ken Taylor... I sold it to you for 80!!! Lololol AND refunded you 20 bucks. Flippity dippity doo dah.

Not sure I understand your logic here...you sell me a damaged print that you didn't even inspect, I complain and you refund me money. I still own and proudly display the poster and that makes me a flipper? Haha I think you need to rethink your insults here. And if anything that trade makes you look worse then me.

Not to mention there has not once been the infernal that there will be money collected for this poster. All offers people pmed me offering large amounts of money have been turned down. I'm not sure that people understand that if this poster doesn't get traded that its not getting sold. It is just being added to a collection.

I think this is tricky. I think everyone is in agreement buying something limited to sell on eBay at a premium is uncool and sucks. Flippers not good, pretty much universal agreement. If someone were to post the Wrigley Mural for $300 this week that would be lame. (Although a year from now it would probably be fine, people sell the PJ20 prints all the time here for a premium now and no one, myself included, takes issue).

Trades I don't think are so cut and dry though. I got a mural today, I'm stoked about it, I'm likely to frame it and put it on my wall. But there are things I want more than the mural and if I saw someone looking for the mural that had one of those items instead I'd consider it. As far as the OP's post goes I think it's within the realm of possibility that there's someone who went to Wrigley and really wants the mural who maybe owns a Kong but didn't got to that show. For that person having a limited poster to an amazing show they were at may be better than having a rare poster to a show they didn't go to. It could be a fair trade depending on the individuals.

For me I would never trade a Kong for the Mural, but then I love Donkey Kong and Pearl Jam. I just don't think it's flipping for the OP to put it out there and see if someone wants to do the trade, maybe someone does. I wouldn't,but just because someone is seeing if there's a trade out there that I wouldn't do I don't know if that makes it flipping. I'd take way more issue if the post said Mural for $400 or something like that. My 2 cents.

So adults do exist on this board.

    ofcourse..i agree with the person u quote.."Damiens"
its all logic what he wrote and its how its things..flipping is when u do something for profit,u resell it for money.trade isnt flipping.

    But..thats the whole problem here..
the OP,his friend, doesnt matter who,Bought the poster only for trade with something else..
while, all of us ,that want the poster for keep it(i personally tried for add it to a birthday package to a friend)
tried yesterday to buy it,and the whole klustefuck at munk site with the paypal didnt let us do it,some others bought it and dont care about it,and use it for some other reason,as trade cos they knew the value of it,will be up right away, will be rare..
isnt against the rules of the forum..the OP has the right to do it..no question about that, trades allowed here..
and if he did that a year from today ,noone would say anything as Damiens said..
the thing is those type of trades and especially the next day isnt "cool",feels "immoral" to the rest of the fans..
and i can understand how some feels today and post in the thread..

for me,it doesnt matter,i tried yesterday,i already forgot i didnt score and i dont care, end of story..
    its just a poster..

the OP is a good person,i know him..he has the right to do it,he doesnt break the rules of the forum..
but as i said the whole feels "not cool" for the rest didnt score....
as Damiens said the whole is tricky....its allowed by the rules, but feels not cool when someone want a poster doesnt get it,cos his chance to get it are less at the online sale cos osomeone else buy it and doesnt care to keep it and wants to use it for a trade..

  • Hey Guys,
My buddy scored one of these prints today from the Dabs Myla sales. Obviously he has not recieved it yet but he has gotten email confirmation of the sale. He is interested in trading this print for a Donkey Kong A/P print from the MSG 2010 show. Please contact me if you are interested in the trade. This is my trade and this is the only poster my buddy wants and is interested in so please do not PM me with any other trade or cash offers. It is either the Donkey Kong A/P or no trade. Thanks everyone and I look forward to hearing form you.

There is an a/p Donkey Kong poster that was put up on Expresso Beans yesterday. The seller is asking $700 for it but maybe you can contact him and work out a deal.

No, I'm not the EB seller of the Donkey Kong poster. I just saw it and thought you might like to know about it...

    Good luck in your search!

You have to respect the fact that there is kind of an unwritten code here and many people consider it a big violation of "The Code" to purchase a limited run item, only to trade/sell it immediately. There is a definitely a "grace period" many folks believe should be respected. There are others who don't really care. Im on the fence and see both sides.

If every single trader went for every item for trade fodder, it would be nearly impossible to score anything. If I purchased a "mural" poster and say a Wrigley SHuss S/N, both of which I really didnt want, with the sole purpose of flipping them for a Yield Firehouse Promo... and numerous people who attended the show got shut out and needed to part with big ticket items in order to obtain these from me... I think I would feel kind of wrong.

This happens from time to time... people want to trade/sell something within a week, people get mad, some people dont care, and the same arguments happen... So dont get offended with people getting upset. Its going to happen, and probably a bit necessary to limit this behavior from becoming wide spread. It isnt in any written rules, and I wouldnt be shocked if you got a deal worked out.

$700 seems kinda salty to me but these don't sell much! That's why the average price is so low on ebeans, there isn't much of an average with which to compare!

Not to mention there has not once been the infernal that there will be money collected for this poster. All offers people pmed me offering large amounts of money have been turned down. I'm not sure that people understand that if this poster doesn't get traded that its not getting sold. It is just being added to a collection.[/quote]

You said I sold you a poster for 3x what it cost. I sold it to you for EXACTLY what it cost. I didn't "inspect it" because I used to assume that, when an artist sends you an AP, it's going to be in perfect shape. So whatever the fuck you're saying, I'm having trouble deciphering. It's mostly likely because your intelligence is superior to the rest of us. You DID say I sold you the print for THREE TIMES what it cost, did you not?

Anyway, I'm done here. What you did is a dick move period. jmHo.

These are already dropping.....from $399 asking price to $299 to $275 to $199......
Looks like another non-flipper like Sasquatch!

It'll go up. There's a lot of bitterness over this print from the folks that got shut out. Values are pretty much dictated by the opinions on here, so I believe that when the dust settles, people are going to get over their "boycott" attitude and realize this poster is pretty dang special (and rare). If I was a flipper, I'd buy as many as I could from ebay right now at those prices and hang on to them for a while. The PJ20 billboard print started fairly low too.

Then again, I've been wrong before.

btw,how the fuck this Donkey Kong become so expensive?
i bought one at 10c sale back then for LukinFan aka Roger cos he wasnt online the time of the sale..
i didnt find it so pretty poster, never thought will be so rare or something..
It is very ugly. But i guess it provides some type of nostolgia to those who played the video games growing up. to each his own I guess

I think the combo of the Donkey Kong nostalgia and the fact that the poster is from a NY show make it a higher demand item

I think the value of the Wrigley billboard print will be hurt in the long run because there are 4 other posters for the show.

You have to respect the fact that there is kind of an unwritten code here and many people consider it a big violation of "The Code" to purchase a limited run item, only to trade/sell it immediately.

If every single trader went for every item for trade fodder, it would be nearly impossible to score anything.
