I don't have a problem with people smoking pot at concerts but I do feel at times people need to be more aware and respectful of the people around them. One of my biggest problem with cigarette smokers is they at times seem very ignorant and disrespectful of the people around them. They let the smoke go whevever and don't care who it is blowing on. If your going to smoke pot I'd say try and remember that not everyone around you wants the smoke on them and just be respectful of that.0

chiefojibwa wrote:well, that's YOUR personal experience. i've been smoking pot for 14 years and i've never wanted to try any of that other shit. it is NOT a gateway drug, anymore than starbucks is a gateway to jack daniels.
"turns into something mental"...WTF????
Yes it turns into something mental...you can't get physically hooked on pot but you can get hooked on it in more of a psychological way. It isn't just my own personal experience its a lot of peoples experience. Pot is a total gateway drug and I stand by that. Just because you haven't tried anything harder sort of makes you an exception to the rule. Ask a hardcore drug addict what he got started on and most likely he is going to say pot.Once in a while you can get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.0 -

Or beer if you want to take it a step farther.0 -

if it was me, i'd have partied and enjoyed a bad ass show with ya.
peace.

No genius. Alcohol is a gateway drug. Out of all the people you speak of that have used weed and progressed to harder drugs, how many of them did not drink?
I hate the way drinkers (by the way this is not directed at you ((and I'm not taking a swipe)), unless you drink and then it does apply) will criticise weed. Fucking hypocrites.

i would have laughed at this ass clown and lit another
if kids are involved i would understand and totally respect it...but if it is all adults around you at a concert i dont see the issue
ps... this guy would HATE to sit next to me at a concert :rolleyes:0 -

I'm talking about the progression of illegal drug use. Alcohol comes with its own set of problems but for all intents and purposes regarding this thread I am not mentioning it because it isn't illegal.Once in a while you can get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.0 -
chipboy wrote:This thread was running through my mind last night when I had my 11 year old at the show and the people next to us and behind us started smoking pot.
My son asked "What is that?"
"Marijuana" I said.
"Dad! Call it 'pot' it sounds cooler", he said.
He asked me if we should tell security. I told him it is a rock concert and people do crazy things at rock concerts. I told him we could move if it started to bother him but the people around us were as respectful as can be expected and blew the smoke up and only lit up once during the show so he was ok.
I think we were the one's that you are talking about! Were you in the 23rd row Left side during petty?
If that was you, we did feel a little strange about smoking next to a kid, but like you said, it was a rock concert. and i don't think those were your original seats anyway : ) that was our justification...hope we didn't offend too much.Summerfest 1995

this thread is funny
i'm not reading through every post, but I'd MUCH rather be next to someone smoking a bowl or j or whatever and getting high than being WASTED drinking a beer.... Puke, beer spilling, yelling, general obnoxiousness, ect. We pot smokers are peaceful folk!"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. "

In my state, it is illegal to operate a motor vehicle while speaking on a cell phone unless you are using a hands free device. On any given day, I can see dozens of people blatantly ignoring that law. Now, it really bugs the shit out of me when some asshole in front of me is driving half the speed limit or can't stay in the lane while gabbing on the phone, especially when I need to get to work on time.
However, I have never and would never call the police to report someone who is breaking the law. Even though the person operating a cell phone is driving erratically and risking MY safety, unlike the guy smoking the joint who risked no one else's safety.
Even though I am a libertarian, cell phone drivers are a pet peeve of mine. Isn't that what this is really all about...someone who's just fed up and wanted to do something about it. He probably had a bad experience at some other show and did nothing about it...and wished he had. This guy was probably waiting for the nearest joint to flare so he could get a cop. If it wasnt you he would have done it to someone else.if you call me Cupcake again I'll make fun of your knee socks and whistle0 -

Some people are just really turned off by any kind of drug...even herb. The pot smoker doesn't think he is really disturbing anyone...I am cool with it and I assume everyone else is so I light up. Pot is not a big deal to me and although I don't question anyone who decides to go at it sober...If you knew what PJ sounded like live after a few one hitter of some very, very nice herb you wouldn't try and take that away from me. Not only are you trying to take it away but you're being a total jerkoff about it. I've never had an experience where someone ran to go fetch security. I think its really lame. My neighbors have always been pretty cool...well, except for once but that guy deserved it.Once in a while you can get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.0 -

Come on man this is like little league with you...You're sitting around without any pot thinking about it and you even said it. Whether or not you are losing sleep is irrelevant. That is psychological addiction bro...exactly what I was talking about.Once in a while you can get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.0 -
I am a 33 year old female and went to my first Pearl Jam concert on sept 19,2005. I was so excited to be there at the ACC and see my favorite band perform. I didn't bring any weed cuz i was a little paranoid to smoke at the venue. I was surrounded by two young fans Becky and Alicia and a forty
year old i did not know and my honey man.
Becky pulled out a cig and asks if it's cool. I say No Problem!. We had rearview seats 12 rows up directly behind the band. I asked her" hey Becky is that all you have to smoke?" she grins and says No! But iam shit at rollin!
So I come back with " Hey I am a seasoned roller!' She smiles and hands me her tiny Altoids silver box filled with amazing Canadian weed. During Sleater
Keaney I rolled a fattty and didn't care.
The four of us smoked as pearl Jam hit the stage opening with Release.
Priceless! I will always think of Becky that night and her smile. Kinship.
Yo Chief you Rock. Don't let the Ninnies get to ya bro. Rock on!

Her eyes swell up, can't breathe, sneezing like a freak. She is very healthy but smoke and heavy dust does that to her........why should he suffer? She does expect that from concerts and there was a few times when she wanted to get security. She never did. Smoking it is one thing standing behind her a blowing it in her direction is another.

thats anotherthing but i can tell you this that in holland, when you ask if you can blowing it another way (almost) everybody will do it
