according to BRY, here is the full set

    Corduroy
    Life Wasted
    Do The Evolution
    Elderly Woman...
    Even Flow
    Hawaii 78
    Better Man
    World Wide Suicide
    Given To Fly
    Crazy Mary
    Alive
    Baba O´Riley
Rockin´ In The Free World (feat. u2)

That's funny how RITFW has U2 featured when PJ was really the featured group. Also, if it's correct that they played Hawaii 78 again, then I think they would have one over some non-PJ fans with that cover.

  • Smile wasn't played last night.

I'm having a hard time being disappointed about the shortened Pearl Jam setlist. I saw my two all-time favorite bands play the same night and share the stage for Rockin' in a Free World! In Hawaii! This is one concert I'll always remember!
I knew going in there was no way PJ would be able to play anything close to a full set, no matter what the local newspaper had said earlier. With Rocko and the Devils (U2 roadcrew band) playing a 1/2 hour set between 6:30 and 7:00 and U2 coming on around 9:00, pretty easy to do the math and figure PJ wasn't going to play much more than an hour. I didn't get into Hawaii early enough to see PJ's full show in Honolulu last weekend, but I'm hoping I'll get to see a full show next year if PJ does another US leg and plays Phoenix and the other cities they skipped this year.

Some people are just kinda ridiculous, even go so far as to say the "U2 hate will increase."

    Its a U2 concert!!

Did people actually think Pearl Jam would play for 2 1/2 to 3 hours? THEY OPENED FOR THEM.

Im glad some people enjoyed it for what it was. Wish I could have been there.

  • WTF? There are seriously people here who expected Pearl Jam to play a full concert BEFORE U2 played what is actually THEIR concert? Are you people insane? The same ones who thought they would actually COheadline with Tom Petty and play a 2+ hour set? Get out of fantasy land people.

Exactly. Some people on here are so obsessed with Pearl Jam that anything less than a 2 1/2 set is blasphemous, and that's just silly. Like you said, it's U2's gig. A 10 or 12 song set is pretty much the standard for opening acts, and like it or not, that's exactly what Pearl Jam was for this show. PJ certainly don't have to open for anybody, and they could've said no, but they obviously chose to do this show because they have a good relationship with U2, they're fans of their music, and they respect them. U2 are the biggest band in the world, and unless you're the freakin' Stones or The Who, anybody who tours with them are gonna end up as the opening band. That's just the way it goes.

The Petty/PJ shows were co-headliner shows. Look I'm not trying to piss anyone off or anything, I too am thousands of miles away, I was fortunate enough to attend the 12/2 show last week and was absolutely floored by that experience. I'm just saying that anyone who expected today's show to be anything close to last weeks was going to come away disappointed. That's all.

I think you're on the right track, and anyone expecting the 12/9 show to be anything like the 12/2 show would have been deluding themselves. The 12/2 show seems like the logical finale for the band's 2006 tour, at 2 hours, 42 minutes long. This weekend's show was nothing more than opening for another band.

I didn't see either, but I have a friend in the Navy who recently moved to the island base there to work for the Marines, and he knew about the shows. He ended up going to the 12/2 show just because he had nothing else going on (the football game there sold out). He enjoyed himself (despite the fact it was a seated arena), but he knew he wouldn't enjoy himself as much as I would if I'd have been there, since he estimates that I'm a much bigger fan. I just simply couldn't afford airfare there. He is one lucky bastard and tonight I let him know that over the phone; he witnessed what must have been a hell of a show. I wish I could have been there to experience it. No complete "Sometimes" this year, but "Oceans" is still a good consolation prize. Dig hearing it more than "Interstellar Overdrive/Corduroy" this day in age.

As for hating U2, I don't know; I see a lot of where the two bands stand together on political, spirtual levels, going back to the September 2005 shows in Canada, I understand there's a comraderie there. There should be among the fans, as well. If there weren't any ties, Pearl Jam simply wouldn't be opening for them on the final night of their tour.

I don't know if u2 is the biggest band in the world. I know they were huge back in '91 when my cousin introduced me formally to their music (I'd definitely heard them before, of course...). Still, I've never followed them closely; I just pick them up from time to time. I feel the same way about R.E.M. these days (who aren't who they were a decade ago, but then again, of these four bands, who is the same band?) I mean, what are we talking here, record sales? Stones are still pretty good contenders. All huge, all of them.

Just got back from Hawaii. This setlist is right. Sorry, no Smile.

It was was a short set, and of course, I would have loved more Pearl Jam - but I am not disappointed. It was a magical evening.

The boys were on fire, and clearly having a blast.

After closing with a kick ass Baba O'Riley the guy in the U2 t-shirt next to me said "F**K that was so awesome, I just forgot who I came here to see!!"

    They rocked it out.

Hey Ed, great idea, I'm all over it.

We missed you this weekend!! The dancing midgest just weren't the same without you!

    Of course, you notice we didn't torture you as much as you tortured me while I was sitting at home on 12/2. (-;
