  • think of all the pj fans who went to this show what a bunch of suckers

no such thing as a bad pearl jam show. one song is better than no songs.
    I went to the concert
And I fought through the crowd
Guess I got a little too excited
When I thought you were around
  • I wanted to go but I knew I was going to lose my job this week. Anyways i gots myself a bottle of grey goose, a doobie, and live at the garden.

I was expecting a small woodstock when I heard about U2 and Pearl Jam. I would have been on my second bottle of whine by now had I gone from the news so far.

But Ed was sick at that show, I think that's a little different. Still, I honestly don't know what people were expecting, I mean c'mon everybody you know that U2 is the HEADLINER at this show right? Sorry for everyone who is disappointed but seriously what did you honestly think would happen at this show? The second coming or something in that ballpark? I'm surprised U2 were brave enough to let PJ open in the first place. Would you want to try and follow our boys?
  • 09/28/05 - PNC Park, Pittsburgh, PA, USA
    supporting: The Rolling Stones
set: Go, Corduroy, Animal, Even Flow, Gimme Some Truth, Given To Fly, Daughter, Black, Better Man/(Save it for Later), Jeremy, Last Kiss, Alive, Save You, Rockin' In The Free World

Something like this would've sufficed. 5 more songs is a big deal and I bet this is what fans were expecting.
  • Regardless our opinion on the way U2 hire their supportacts and how much of the stage and how lobg time etc. This time around the supportact had a very great setlist - those songs must have impressed the u2 fans.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh see the world.

Is the rapture really to much to ask for? Hmmm?

I'm sorry to post again but, the fact remains: It's a U2 SHOW not a Pearl Jam and U2 show. A U2 show period. As much as I and everyone else would love to see PJ rock the fuckin' place for three hours it's just not gonna happen. Sorry. Deal with it.
  • They also said that we are going to be able to hear the u2 show here : http://kickfm.myftp.org:8000/listen.pls

Right now I only hear u2 songs.

is this working for you now? Is that how you're getting the songs?

Now that is FUNNY! Thanks for lightening things up a bit. People get so serious around here sometimes. Anyway aren't the rapture some band? I didn't even know they were gonna play at this show too.

No..... my brother is in the show, He is telling me the songs.
I just saw that link in a U2 mexican forum
  • It seems to be working KINDA; I could make out Wild Horses earlier... but there's a bunch of side talk with the music in the background... and now there's not much of anything. OH must be the end of a song RIGHT NOW... so that link may be working a bit.

I am thousands of miles away so really dont care but like "smellyman" said, this was a subpar opening set compared to the opening setlist they played for the stones last year. I am sure it was good no doubt- just a lot shorter than expected and promoted.

  • I expected the short PJ opening setlist, but it would still have been cool to be at the concert. However, I'm soooooo glad I went last weekend instead of this weekend. 12/2 and Hawaii 78 will go down as one of the best moments of the tour.

  • I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that EV might perform All Along the Watchtower with U2 towards the end of the set. RITFW, as others have said, another likely EV appearance.

  • when kanye west (ugh... my poor ears) opened for U2 in oz last month, he played a 35min set.

so maybe an hour when opening U2 isnt bad! who knows who decides these things anyway.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.
  • Opened with Interstellar Overdrive and then into Corduroy...
Set was short but we rocked out! Crazy Mary was awesome! Section NN had a good time with that one! Left early from the U2 set- Wife and I got in a fight ... again... More on that later- OH YEAH... The poster is a Klausen and it kicks major ASS by far the most colorful of the tour! Don't worry PJ Pat got you covered! T-Shirt was light blue with the LA 2 poster print on it...Wish I could send a picture... using the hotel computer for $3.00 for 15 minutes- SEE YA!

The Petty/PJ shows were co-headliner shows. Look I'm not trying to piss anyone off or anything, I too am thousands of miles away, I was fortunate enough to attend the 12/2 show last week and was absolutely floored by that experience. I'm just saying that anyone who expected today's show to be anything close to last weeks was going to come away disappointed. That's all.

Smile wasnt played. Interstellar cord and crazy is correct. Too freakin short. At least PJ's name is bigger on the poster :P
  • Hmm..Didn't expect that. I wouldn't be dissapointed if I was there, although eleven songs is kind of short...it just gets you started and then it's over..hour and 15 minutes would be decent and still not too long for an opener IMO.

Well..I bet it's was mind blowing anyway...you lucky bastards ;)

That's better. I think 12 songs is actually a lot more reasonable than nine as someone posted earlier. I'd be pretty fucking pissed if I flew to Hawaii for nine songs....wait, but I'd still be in Hawaii...so maybe I'd get over it. But still. Any 12 song set from PJ (or even nine song set for that matter) is gonna blow the fucking roof off compared to any other band.

Here's somebody who's got the right idea. It was still shorter, but PNC was more what I thought was in mind for a style of setlist.
  • It is true that they played "Smile" ?????????????
