I think it would be a great if the Band released every concert on DVD. I dont think they cost too much to produce and they would sell a copy of everyone who was at the concert plus collectors and other people.
i would like to see all the shows. im like a lot of people on here saying that this show or that show was amazing, but the truth is that they're all great. i would just like to see what i missed from the canadian tour and to have a video memory for life.
dvds from every show is for sure the way to go for now on.
See, it's not really a matter of dollars (time=money notwithstanding). The concerts are all recorded, both the audio and video, (as pretty well all of you know) by the crew. Well, same goes for the production of the DVDs. No, the cost per disc and all that is cheap. And of course they're all edited and so forth on a Mac. I'm guessing it's a matter of how time consuming it would be to take all of the digital tapes from one show, and single-handedly sit down and edit it down so it's done well. It is quite an effort to do it well, not that it's difficult, just a little painstaking, despite the intuitive software available. I laugh when I see posts by people saying that EVERY show should be put out (holy shit would that be awesome, and the shows would cost less than at least store-bought bootlegs), but who's gonna sit down for all of those hours and do it, Eddie? It's Stone's band too, so why not him? Sounds absurd doesn't it. Of course, they could hire some folk to come in and do it, but then you've got that rediculous cost of labour. Besides which, I like the way those reponsible for constructing the concert DVDs edit them. It's not so IN YOUR FACE, with a million camera angles per second like a fucking U2 DVD. Plus they always principally show the singer... you get the odd shot of other members... maybe if you're lucky you'll catch a glimse of the bassist etc.
Fuck, I'd put together some shows for them at no cost.

That new U2 DVD from the 2005 tour kicks ass. It's recorded 'professionally' and the audio and video are amazing! PJ should hire the same company to record their shows.
I have a big DVD music collection, and have to admit PJ's DVDs have the lowest audio/video quality.
Oh, don't get me wrong, all of these bands hire guys who know what they're doing, and use all of the latest equipment and so on. Now, I'm not sure off-hand of the specifics of the audio - sampling rate and so on. But as far as I know, a U2 DVD is not using 192 KHz sound or anything exceptional. I'm sure the mics Pearl Jam uses are just as good. The only difference lies in the way it's mixed. I think they way Brett Eliason does it just doesn't work for some people. I went to the Edmonton show (actually the sound there did kinda blow compared to most, but maybe it was the sound system at Rexall place, but probably it has to do with the fact that it just simply was Edmonton)... I took a friend who used to play professionally in a band and such (until he woke up with day with mad carpel tunnel and tendonitis), anyway, his major complaint afterwards was how "shitty the sound was done! The sound guy should be shot!" etc. Well, I think the standard way to do it (I'm no expert by any means) is to have the vocals shine through, above every other instrument (remember, it is just another instrument, and with the case of PJ, all 'instruments' are important, not just the voice of a pretentious frontman). I hate how on Dave Matthews Band recordings, for instance, the crowd comes in so loudly at times.
You can't expect them to spend assloads of money just to overglorify their performance unnesessarily... come on! It's Pearl Jam! It's only about the music! At least to me...

I agree with you.
I want to hear Mike's guitar real loud. ;-) I love how the sound is on the Mad Season Video, especiall during the Novemeber Hotel song.
They could put out the new album as a Dual Disc. They mostly use them right now to put out a regular stereo version on one layer and a 5.1 Dolby SACD or DVD-A mix on the other layer. I think they could do a stereo version of the new album and a DVD of the tour together, depending on the size of the DVD...
Seems like alot of bands are going to the duo disc with one being a live performance. One song from each Canadian/SA show would make a sweet dvd to attach to the release of the new cd.
Adolescence in essence is all about trust.

Ultimately, wouldn't it be great if every show was released on DVD?
