It seems that liberals project ideas, attitudes, thoughts, feelings, and even actions onto others. I think this is the reason why liberal/left wing people are absolutely unable to debate people who are not liberal. They seem to think of people only as an equal part of the group they are assigning to that person. They are unable to imagine that all people are individuals so they can't accept an argument when a person deviates from the box they believe they are in.

And on the other hand liberals project greatness, kindness, and intelligence on those who are also liberals.

I think it is a natural and normal thing to do because it feels good. But it is also the easiest because it requires no depth of knowledge. It's the nice thing to do and therefore starts with support and ends with the phrases, talking points, cartoons, and demagoguery that inform all their opinions.

I was born a Democrat, voted straight Dem, and campaigned for Democrats. But 21st century Democrats are way way gone.

I beg to differ. I believe liberals think in a bubble not squares. Trying to break down the "square" bricks in the wall of ignorance. See past today... to see the greater picture, and lead through a string of events to help the greater picture come to fruition which inevitably will help evolve mankind.

By the Way... Democrats are not all liberal nor are all liberals democrats.

    I like the last statement.

    This will be good conversation.

Anyone on this website a conservative liberal?

I think people use the term "liberal" because Rush Limbaugh/Hannity/Savage use the term.

"Conservative" used to mean someone who preferred small government, small taxes. We know for a fact that the conservatives in charge most recently have voted for massive deficits due to tax cuts and wars, a huge government undertaking with the Patriot Act, etc.

Anymore conservative means someone who fights for the wealthy at the expense of everyone else whether the wealthy want it or not.

    Liberal is everyone else.

I enjoyed the bush mask during those years.

It would have made a statement if he would have had the courage to do the same with obama.

    That would be punk rock.

As for going both ways? I do not read much around here from anyone pissed off about obomas politics.

It could be...most here like obamas politics.

actually, I have read PLENTY of comments from left-leaners who have been disappointed in Obama's record thus far on many different topics.

I am probably as close to that as you will find.

I think we need fiscal responsibility in government but we also have responsibility to care for those who need as a society. I believe it is in everyone's best interest to help the poor and those in need, but I don't believe the best way to do that is through gov't.
I am for small government. I am against foreign war, I am against drug wars, I am against all intrusion into personal privacy without due process. I could go on but you get the point.
You don't have to be conservative or liberal, you just have to think for yourself, and be consistent in a set of principles.

They are for the working class.
    They are against discrimination
    They are pro-choice
    They are against war
They believe health care is a right, not an option
They believe that science holds the key to the future, rather than looking at religion to keep the past.
Environmental issues, like global warming, are in fact, a really big problem.

    Economical Reasoning

Keeping taxation up to preserve the welfare of the people - you have to spend money to make money.
Sometimes life deals you lemons. Its up to those with lemonade to quench the thirsty.

We need good schools and roads and firefighters and domestic safety. These are not cheap.

"Oh, the government just lowered my tax rate from 33% to 32%. Now I can hire 3 more people per hour that my business doesn't need." - Said no Owner and/or CEO Ever.

Good show, jethrojam! I was just thinking, why are we afraid to say "I love liberals?" I hesitate to apply labels to myself and I know some very conservative people for whom I have a lot of love but, yeah, generally and for the most part, I love liberals too. :)

That's as good as saying politicians are different from voters. Politicians are in a different class altogether; they're bought by special interest groups and lobbyists, have their "careers for life" and they take advantage of that, they take advantage of the other class: the voters, and have only money in their own interests, not the people.

I am a progressive liberal. I don't care what anyone thinks of me, I challenge the status quo, I beg people to wake up and to question EVERYTHING. If that makes me a bad person, than so be it. We're all crippled by our own thoughts, yet we have the power to change our thoughts at the same time. Judging others with any sort of label and putting them down is just a testament to whom we are, the judgers, and whom society wants us to be. Break free of the mold and treat everyone as ONE. Because we're all in this boat together.
