this show blew my mind. a lot of my freinds tonight went to see jack johnson, i feel bad for them. the YL explanation, the "new song" that no one seems to have mentioned yet, porch, masters of war, falling backwards into the crowd while playing hard sun. it was incredible
and of course, Trouble. that was insane. i need the boot badly
Holy shit was this show good. I was at four...Boston II was incredible...but this....wow....I really hope there is a boot of it somewhere. The venue was incredible and Eddie was ready for it. Wow. Seriously, just amazing. Thanks 10C and thanks Eddie!
speaking of which I was one of the lucky ones to catch him. Oh man was that a thrill
ill be honest with you, and keep in mind i am a completely heterosexual male no questions asked, but if i were one of the ones he stage dove on to or crowed surfed once in his life, i would instantly stick my hands up his pants and feel his junk. all jokes aside, i wouldnt be able to stop myself

So, what you're saying, notchjohnson, is that you would reach into Ed's notch, and grab his Johnson?
Ohhhhhkay ....
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do

Secondly... (coming up in next post, I was so moved by the YLB explanation, and that we even got one!)
He starts in with the whole story about a guy during the first Persian Gulf War (that's "Pappa Bush" he says) who's "dressed like us back in the day when we first started out, the shorts, the tights, the long hair, ya know..." The crowd laughs. He says his family gets the yellow letter, as previously mentioned in this thread... (that post was great by the way, but I just wanna add a little more). So he's walking through this suburban town, trying to walk it off, clear his mind, but he can't seem to take one step without stepping deeper into [despair] (Eddie's words, not mine, I can't remember right now what he said the guy was stepping deeper into so I paraphrased). So anyway, he sees the older, nice suburban people sitting on their porch with the American flag waving... and the guy gives a wave/fist pump like, "yeah! my brother...."
But the people just look back at him, like as if to say, "What a fuckin scumbag." Exact words, kinda funny the way he said it, but I was shaking my head with a smile, even though he tried to make it funny... it was a reality of misunderstanding that was so moving. Eddie goes on to explain, they don't know the whole story, all they saw was the exterior.... blah blah
The show was amazing, he told a story about how this was the nicest small venue he's played, the crowd kinda groaned/giggled, but he said, "No, now when an aunt asks me where's the nicest place you played, I can tell her it was Newark, NJ."
Other high points, "The Wolf" where he sings, and doubles himself, and then triples himself, etc... I didn't know that was gonna happen. Maybe I shoudla read this forum a little more, but it was the sweetest surprise to see it done that way, the greatest musician I have ever seen is Eddie Vedder if you consider the voice an instrument... I swear, I had chills and couldn't stop smiling the entire time, in disbelief of what I was witnessing.
Please tell me there's something, anything other than the 30 second clip of Porch I recorded and the 10 second clip of The Wolf. They're horrible visuals and I don't know how the audio came out.
Somebody please have something...
PS - I saw Kenny Mayne outside on the catwalk/balcony overlooking the courtyard of this venue where they have live music and people setup chairs, picnic, and enjoy the entertainment. Once in the venue, you can get up on this catwalk, and that's where my friend and I saw Kenny Mayne wearing a #41 Dodgers jersey.

My friend and i noticed there were mics set up..far stage left....pointed towards the crowd....so we were thinking it was definitely being recorded....for what it's worth.
I think the little monologue about the bad review needs to be either quoted on here or posted on youtube. the part about him bein a bad mother fucker with his mandolin was hilarious. i wont sleep until i can put an acurate version of that into my away message. ahhh i cant sleep anyway that show has me spinnin still.
im gonna go play with my new zippo and look at my new tshirt some more, while wishing i had the batman poster.

I'm gonna go watch this one more time and think about how much better it was tonight.
so at first eddie said he was taken back, and didnt know there actually were lyrics to the song. Than he explained that its about the first gulf war, and a Man, who is retro grunge style, and society looks down on him, and his brother was off at war. At war, the brother dies, and the man recieves a yellow letter from the army stating this. To try n clear his mind, he takes a walk, and sees 2 people on there porch, with a flag waving. So the man sorta salutes them, and the 2 people look donw on him, like he is scum, not knowing he just lost his brother. And with every step the man takes, he feels as if he is falling in an abyss. That is pretty much what eddie stated.
thats pretty crazy stuff.

No white pants and I heard he said the ones he wore needed to be hemmed.
He said the new song he played was like an unripe piece of fruit before he played it. He said he wrote it at 5 am on Thurs Morning. After he played the new song he said it was like a pair of pants that needs to be hemmed.
Very cool show. It was the only one I will see on this tour and I am glad I was there

Anyone catch what Ed said about playing YL a lot and something about mumbling, or the words change or something? It was the tail end of his explanation, either right before or after his voice started breaking.
Someone chick's phone rang not once, but TWICE during this story. AND SHE PICKED UP THE GODDAMN PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah you, row M Orchestra by the aisle. You know who you are. (end rant).
So yeah, if anyone can enlighten me I'd be a really happy gal!
Wasn't one of the questions from the crowd "Where are your white pants?" I wonder if Ed knows how intrigued we are with his pants.

Jeebus you work fast.
you are the man. i was 10 feet from that, i cant sleep.
Will 10c have this available? I haven't been checking so I don't know if they're doing this at all. I wasn't even supposed to go tonight.
What about when he's jerking the ukulele and saying he's tough after mocking his negative review about being too "righteous and brooding." lol
im gonna go play with my new zippo and look at my new tshirt some more, while wishing i had the batman poster.
