I've never missed a sold out show from any band in 27 years of gigging apart from PJ, Glasgow 92 where I queued up until the doors were locked. Memberships mean nothing and if they don't give you the benefit you want from it don't join/renew. You will always get a ticket.
Like a book among the many on a shelf...
Dublin 02 Arena - 22/6/10. Belfast Odyssey Arena - 23/6/10. London Hyde Park - 25/6/10. Berlin Wuhlheide - 30/6/10.
Manchester MEN - 20/06/12. Manchester MEN - 21/06/12
As someone who is only 21 and could not be a member for the 10+ years most people have been. This system is very fair. That being said I think it may need some improvement.
I like it.
I usually had to login on TC presale day at work and try to explain to my boss why I just *had* to do this during work hours- there was always an issue.... I much prefer this, for many reasons beyond that. It seems more fair and much less frustrating, whatever the outcome.
Like. The real problem is the length/size of tours these days. Almost every issue people have with this system is due to the fact the band doesn't play 2/3 of the country whenever they tour anymore and doesn't really have shit to do with the lottery system itself. Plus I have a day job that I can only fuck around so much buying tickets online. Even though I'm a member since the 90s and didn't get GA, I still like the GA addition, too. I've read so many posts that say, "this fan club does it this way" and it's either a band that is half as popular or tours the entire country every summer. PJ is such a niche - basically a hugely popular cult band - that running a fanclub that offers tix for them has to be crazy hard. Thanks for working hard to keep it fair as possible, 10C!

Agreed.
I'd like it, if tours were longer. Thins out all of the people in the lottery and more people have a chance to see something (instead of all fighting for one show like Wrigley). For instance, let all the west/east coast shows be in a larger lottery instead of two legs.

Like. Listen I have been a member since 1997 and have missed out on countless tickets. I still have not seen Eddie solo because it was just not in the cards I guess. There is NO perfect system, but if you step back and get over the fact you did not get tickets you have to admit this is leaps and bounds better then the last system. If you have any idea what it costs to build, run, and update a website you would realize that Pearl Jam is doing a hell of a job. To be honest it pisses me off when I read all of these people saying they dislike the new system just because they missed out on tickets. Again I have missed out on all Ed solo shows and some PJ shows. Am I going to curse the band, the fan club, etc.? People there are a lot of PJ fans (which is great!) and I have met some amazing people lets not forget that. One more thing people who throw in the, "I've been a member since such and such and deserve so much more". you all sound like the kid saying you like a certain band more because you heard them first. You sound like a little kid.
Sorry for the rant but sometimes.....
I hear you, but I think it is outrageous (based on past history) that people put in for 4, 5, 6 or more shows and got COMPLETELY shut out. in the past I've missed out on NYC shows, but still got the likes Hartford/Albany/Camden etc with no problem so at least I got to see a show. it seems like this time, people put in for Brooklyn as their #1 choice simply because it's their "local" show, missed out on that, but still didn't get their back-ups of Hartford/Pitt/Buffalo etc.
if there are less 10c tix available now than in '00, '03, '06, '08 and '10, then 10c should have done a better job of setting expectations. if they had, I think a lot of people would have made their #1 choice differently.
is the technical process better than F5? fuck yes
is it as fair from an implementation and results standpoint? no

I work where I cannot F5. It is better to give everyone a chance.
I think everyone should get one ticket if possible and then go to the rest however...
