Were any laws broken by the NSA?
    Guess what? No.
Thanx to our previous administration and their lap dog Congress, thses types of operations were made legal because Americans were (and still are) pussies when it comes to 'terrorists' and let them pass these questionable laws.
The law that was broken here... Snowden, passing on classified information.
    ...
if we quit being pussies about 'terrorists' and cowering in fear about 'Muslims'... like pussified fucking pussies... then, we would not be in this mess. Terrorists... fuck those assholes. We let them scare us into dismantling our freedoms. We deserve what we get because we are fucking scared little assholes.

You don't think that the chaos, mayhem, and ever increasing anger this seems to be causing gives comfort to American enemies?

Depends what you mean by 'gives comfort'. Sounds like bullshit to me.

You do realize this chaos, mayhem and anger only exists in a very, VERY small group of mainly paranoid individuals right? Most of us in the population are continuing our lives as normal.

Is that why it's all over the news headlines of every mainstream news organization?

And yes, we understand that some people, like yourself, don't give a shit about the erosion of privacy and civil liberties, and the governments breaking of the constitution.

If only everyone could be as clear-sighted and informed as you, then the World would be a much better place - albeit, one resembling a Soviet propaganda poster, or a Sergei Eisenstein movie.

Well, it's the top story on CNN and NBC. I suppose those two news stations must be full of paranoid types, right?

It's also at the top of the page on the Washington Post's webpage, and the L.A Times webpage, and the New York Times webpage. The 'paranoia' must be spreading! :o

    the guy is a hero.

just like bradley manning is a hero.

they see their government involved in some bullshit and they put their livelihood on the line to tell about it.

i thought obama was going to "protect whistleblowers"???

what the hell good is blowing a whistle when you face ruining your own life for speaking out? this guy would have been better off to shut up and let business as usual carry on. i admire him for what he did.

then again, the republicans would be all up in arms if there was another massive terrorist attack that happened and obama had not continued bush's policies and used all government powers at his disposal..

rep peter king just said that reporters should be prosecuted for leaking classified information. :fp: so much for a free press.

Rep. Peter King: Reporters Should Be Prosecuted For Publishing Leaked Classified Information

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/1 ... 24541.html

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said on CNN's "AC 360" Tuesday night that reporters should be prosecuted for publishing stories with leaked classified information.

After King explained why he believes the recent NSA leaks pose a grave threat to national security, host Anderson Cooper asked him if he thinks the reporters who break stories off of leaked information should be punished in some way.

"If they willingly knew that this was classified information, I think action should be taken, especially on something of this magnitude," King said.

"I think on something of this magnitude, there is an obligation both moral but also legal, I believe, against a reporter disclosing something that would so severely compromise national security."

Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald, who broke the story of the NSA's phone record collecting practices last week, expressed his disbelief at King's remarks on Twitter.

Is is true, as I was just told, that Peter King on CNN called for criminal prosecution of journalists reporting the NSA stories?
    8:31 PM - 11 Jun 2013

It is not illegal to publish classified information in the United States, and no reporter has ever been prosecuted for doing so. But an affidavit to obtain a search warrant for Fox News reporter James Rosen's email account, surfaced by the Washington Post last month, invoked the possibility that he could be criminally liable for soliciting state secrets from a government source.

I can't believe that this would be top NEWS on a 24 hour NEWS channel....

    Current top stories

    CNN- Newton
    MSNBC-Girl gets lung transplant
    NY Times-Environmental rules delayed
Washington Post-Drivers still distracted by gadgets
LA Times-LA courts to cut 550 jobs......

Paranoid individuals will continue to dig through the news for this story.

I did hear that the leakers girlfriend was "shocked" to hear about this........BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

I got up this morning, had breakfast, listened to the morning radio, walked my daughter to school, went to work....now taking a break and I didn't see any chaos, anger and mayhem regarding this story. People who do not focus on the news or internet have plenty of other daily activities to enjoy.

    TRAITOR

Most of us have always known or believed that big government was listening in on us, the Patriot Act made it legal. Snowden’s revelation about massive ease dropping was nothing new; it was the procedures on how easy the data is collected and how much was collected that caused a shockwave. Still our intelligence agencies were operating with the legal framework of the law and the information/data collected was classified as secret.

The difference between the NSA and Snowden and other so-called whistleblowers who steal and/or release classified/secret information, is that the NSA kept it secret, these so-called heroes went public without caring about the implications to the people, the country or our allies.

--Maybe you believe Snowden comes off as your hero and should be touring all the talk shows right now. But he is not – he’s in hiding, WHY!!!!

    1. Snowden stole classified documents that contained American citizens’ identifiable, personal data and communications and, then fled the country to a China-controlled state before turning some of those documents over for publication.

    --That makes him a TRAITOR.

    2. What you don’t know and what the intelligence community doesn’t fully know is what other documents or unfiltered information did Snowden confiscate before fleeing the country to China?

    That makes him a TRAITOR.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

well then prove it in court an execute him then.

again, where is the protection for the whsitleblowers who blow the lid off of this shit??

would you rather the government just gone on about its business unabated?

I have a much greater chance of getting killed by an American with a gun, than a terrorist.
The reason why I am afraid is because I do not think you are trustworthy enough to own a semi-automatic rifle with a half dozen 30 round magazines and can cope with the day to day living without going off the deep end one day and shooting up the Taco Bell because you hate Mexicans and Muslims taking over.
You may be a legitimate gun owner today... but, that does not mean you are a stable individual. You have not verified that you possess the emotional attributes to be trusted with such a lethal weapon.
    ...
Note: I am not point you out, specifically. Just the fact that we have no idea of the emotional capacities of these so-called 'legit' gun owners. Adam Lanza was a legitimate gun owner until he decided those kids did not deserve to live any longer. There are more Adam Lanza's in our midst thant there are terrorists. Do the math.
