need to resurrect the days w/o a mass shooting thread.

It's nice living in a place with about 0 gun deaths per year.
  • personally i'd take the guns over the most polluted air in the world.

lovely....let's blame all the actions of twisted A-holes on the NRA and guns.....
after all it's not their fault the guns made them do it.

Since the guy is dead, its difficult to determine what his motive was.

Until we are given some reasonable approximation of what that motive was, I for one, would rather not rush to some half-witted conclusion and instead base my response on a measured consideration of the facts

What I would like to see though to better understand this issue of guns and violence is it be reported facts of ownership, legal purchase or otherwise. Clearly there are some in this land that shouldn't be in possession of weapons.

until then, my new mantra is "this is the price THEY/WE pay for freedom".
    20 dead kids= freedom.
    Boston bombing= freedom.
    Iraq and Afghanistan= freedom.
    Inaction on Syria= freedom.
4 dead Americans in Libya and no concern with catching those responsible but instead focused on words used AFTER the fact which have nothing to do with 4 dead Americans = freedom.

to use Lee Greenwood's overused lyric "Proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free"
    God Bless The USA.

And what about the American Muslims, of which there is a sizeable number, do we create camps for them?

Your answer to fix the problems created by a few Muslims? Get rid of them.

Your answer to fix the problems created by a few guns? Don't judge the good gun owners by the actions of a few twisted A-holes on the NRA and guns.

This is narcissism at its finest. That's all I have to say about that.

So nothing of value to add then. I am interested in what you think all these American Muslims should do, you know the families that have lived in the US as long as you have.

Where do they get sent, or what choices are the afforded?

we've already gone over that....tell ya what I'll give a little.
let's keep the phone bugging and send anyone back who is involved with any sort of terrorism no matter how small or level of suspect along with their familys and then not allow anymore muslims into the country, how's that ?

You haven't answered it at all. Once again, what about AMERICAIN Muslims, millions, born and bred in the good old US of A, who have lived in the country as long as you and generations of your family, what do you do to them?

m.p-that'll take some thought ....o.k I'm done, I think I answered that that question already when I stated
"let's keep the phone bugging and send ANYONE back who is tied or suspect of terrorism" I don't care how long they've here.

Fuck. Don't we have other Muslim threads, gun threads, get-your-argument-on threads?

The shootings were all over the news here yesterday. I woke up this morning thinking about those folks who were just living their lives, minding their own business, when someone lost it and decided to play god.

My heart just breaks for those who love them, who must be in a world of pain right now.

Made me give my guy an extra big kiss this morning.

at least I would offer the benefit of deportation (except in cases of murder) because the radical muslims in the middle and even here love killing Americans.

should i blame the most powerful lobby in washington for giving millions upon millions of dollars to politicians to insure that expanded background checks fail in the senate? you are fucking right i am gonna blame the nra. every time this happens, i am gonna post and blame the nra. they are DIRECTLY responsible for the proliferation of handguns in this country.

they are partly resposbile for the continued right to keep and bare arms,I agree with that.
but as far as the other part of your post I have not seen anything that states that the NRA gave money to support phone or internet survaliance on the American public.

Universal background checks would ensure the right, able-minded people would have a gun. If you have no problem, then you have no worry (like the argument with the cell phone hackings: "They can listen to my calls, I have nothing to hide.")

The universal background checks wouldn't harm our right to bear arms. It would stop those who shouldn't handle guns. If you believe THAT is wrong (because you don't want their rights taken, despite them being too ill to own a dangerous weapon), then you should go sit in a room full of mentally ill people with AR-15s and see how long til something happens.

guitarplayer-it's hard for me to disagree with your statement about back ground checks, it would be fine if it stoped there, seems the anti gun folks just keep wanting to chip away at gun owners rights until they get what they want and that seems to be no guns at all so sad to say that even peope that agree with back ground checks feel they to have fight off any attempt to futher change gun laws just to try and keep what we have.
everytime there is a mass shooting someone wants to ban guns ...like that would fix the problem with mental wackos.
