Imagine if them crooked vultures never happens and those songs had become part of a double album with clockwork songs. Cue salivating Homer Simpson sound.
So I finally got this on vinyl, not the deluxe version. The vocals sound like the guy on the cover vampirish….just a deep baritone. It is like this in every song. I have never heard this album before buying it on vinyl but when I check the songs on youtube, the voice is much more identifiable with Songs For The Deaf, the only other album I know by QOTSA…anyone know what gives?!
FYI I have a VPI Scout 1.1 and all my other vinyls sound fine.

Do you have it on the right speed? That album is 45rpm.
Ohhhhhh that fixed it! I wonder if I am the only one to listen to that album at 33rpm.
Well I figured it out a whole lot faster, hahahaha but I admit I did have a moment of "Wtf is wrong with my record player?!" before I realized it was a 45 LP.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
Here's an FUN experiment we tried last year when the new holiday single was released... Listen to Pendulumorphosis on BOTH speeds and then tell me which one you like better??

I just discovered it a few months ago...but it's on hold as I started playing Rated R which I just heard for the first time last week.
Saw them on the Rated R tour at Lee's Palace in Toronto. We drank the bar dry that night it was one of the loudest and best rock concerts I have been to. Likely paid $15, 500 people, crazy
The last PJ show I went to was the best PJ show ever, that is until they come around again of course

I saw them in a club in Richmond in 2013. It was right after they played the Barclays Center. They brought their stadium equipment or something because it is probably the loudest show I've ever been to in my life. Ears rang for days but so worth it. They destroyed the club. Sick Sick was just a giant mosh of 1000 people, 90's style.
My favorite album of the last 5 years - spun that 45 sucker today!!!
This record is sooo damn good…I get lazy sometimes searching my collection for a record to play and just end up playing this because it is such an easy choice. Where have you been all my life QOTSA?!
Amazing album and I'm thinking my big gateway into QOTSA...Its finishing the job that the TCV album started. Had this since it came out and loved it as soon as I started digging into it.
Recently got the Rated X vinyl and it's an incredible album. Don't care too much for the tune or 2 with the screamier vocals, but they're still cool musically.
How come they pretty much never play anything off their debut anymore?! Regular John and Mexicola in particular are amazing songs and stand up to any of their more recent stuff.. That first record is killer.

This album was totally my gateway into QOTSA. I saw them at PJ20, liked them enough but didn't really get into them.
Then I heard this album, saw them at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple (1200 capacity) and been hooked on all things Josh Homme ever since.

Thanks for the honesty!
We've all been there and we'll be there again.
