I totally agree. That album really spoke to me when it came out, and I was in a dark place at that time. So I still relate it to that every time I listen to. Like Clockwork is a very personal album to me, that why I love it as much as I do.
Like Clockwork was the best album I had heard since Them Crooked Vultures. Josh Homme really knows what's up right now.
LB is even better than I expected it to be though. I absolutely love it.

I hate to say it, I don't think PJ can match it, Like Clockwork is that good.
Now that I've heard LB a few times I will say this: I still say Clockwork is better than LB, but it's because Clockwork is probably the best thing I've heard in a decade. It's not because of any short fallings by Pearl Jam, Lightning Bolt is really good, so glad that it's a top notch record. But Clockwork is just genius.San Jose 10/93, San Francisco 6/95, San Jose 11/95, St Louis 4/03, Columbus 5/10, MSGII 5/21/2010, Alpine Valley 09/03/2011 and 09/04/20110 -

I've always wanted to go to Australia. If the rumors of an NIN/QOTSA tour down under are true.......will think long and hard. Dates supposedly to be announced Thursday.San Jose 10/93, San Francisco 6/95, San Jose 11/95, St Louis 4/03, Columbus 5/10, MSGII 5/21/2010, Alpine Valley 09/03/2011 and 09/04/20110

Like Clockwork for me. LB is outstanding but lacks the consistency and stand alone greatness of Like Clockwork. I don't think there is any filler on Like Clockwork.0

I figured I'd post this here instead of the main PJ forum.
It's really funny how music works.
I've said it a million times, I absolutely love Like Clockwork because of what all was going on in my life at the time and I could really relate to it.
Since then, things have got a lot better, and it's actually been better recently than it has been in a very long time. It's been a lot of hard work but it feels like everything is really working out.
Then came Lightning Bolt, and it came at the perfect time because I hear so much positivity in it. Exactly the way I feel now. It's honestly like Like Clockwork was Part 1 of all this shit and Lightning Bolt was Part 2.
So it went from...
Most of what you see my dear
Is purely for show
Because
Not everything that goes around
Comes back around, you know
Holding on too long is just
A fear of letting go
Because
Not everything that goes around
Comes back around, you know
One thing that is clear
It's all down hill
From here
...and then...
It’s a fragile thing, this life we lead,
If I think too much I can get overwhelmed by the grace by which we live our lives with death over our shoulders.
Want you to know
That should I go,
I always loved you,
Held you high above too.
I studied your face,
And the fear goes away,
The fear goes away,
The fear goes away.
It just fascinates me how this happened.* Cincinnati, OH 8.20.2000 *
