Pearl Jam in France

To all of you who are visiting France for the Paris and/or Marseille gigs, or indeed are locals and have the best advice!

I'm looking for some hints and tips about hostels/hotels and travel.

At the moment i'm planning to get a flight into Marseille, and then a flight into Paris (Charles de Gaulle), before heading back to London from Paris (OVR). I'd be interested to hear what peoples suggestions were about where to stay, particularly in Paris - somewhere in between the airports and the Palais venue, that's easish to get to (especially later at night after the gig).

Do the Marseille and Paris venues have easy acces via trains?

Sorry - only just booked my tickets and the only chance i get to go on the net at the mo is at work, so haven't had time to get investigating!

Would appreciate anyone's advice, ideas, their own plans etc?

Cheers!

Don't fly from Marseille to Paris: take the train (TGV) it's faster (as you don't have to go to the airport, and you can just show up at the last minute) and probably cheaper. Also more envionmentaly friendly of course.
    Same for Paris-London of course.

In Paris, Bercy (the venue) is easily accessible by tube as it's quite central.

There's not really such a thing as hostels in France (well a few YHA) but you can probably find some cheap hotels (sorry can't be more precise, I've never stayed in Marseille and have familly to stay with in Paris).
  • im off to Paris for Sept 11th gig, gunna be amazing! getting eurostar from london to paris, and going to get cheap hotel. Still cant book tickets on eurostar yet! anyone managed to book their eurostar tickets???

    Hi,

I am a belgian PJ fan and I am going to antwerp and paris (10c tix).
For Paris, I looked at Berc's website (http://www.bercy.fr/) and there's a link to book an hotel room near bercy...
I've booked a room, so it could be nice if everybody goes there to meet before the concert....
here's the info of the hotel.

I'm gonna be in France, in all probability, during the date of the concert, so is there any meet-ups? Cause while I may not have bought a ticket I'd love to meet some jammers for a drink.

am seriously considering this gig at the moment!!

one question tho i was on the french version of ticketmaster
earlier and u can see a view of the venue, with 3 catagories
    of tickets available...different colours etc!!!

however i cant see any standing tickets at all as the "yellow"
section where u'd be standing normally is down as seating, anyone
    know a thing bout it!!

if theres a metro then try and book into ALOAH HOTEL, its a hostel
which i stayed in 2 years ago, fuckin brilliant staff! the hotel in the
title confuses u alot when u in france i must add! also i think thats
    how u spell the name!!

I'll be there with Keithos. I've no idea where we should meet yet. Last time I was there I remember that the southside of the river seemed to be the best place for beers e.t.c - the boulevard St Germain. Let me know if you find anything.

As with Dublin, a few of us have got 10 club tickets for the Paris show. I'm not sure where that puts us.

---> this hotel is very nice, a bit expensive but really close to the venue, and very welcoming, I usually go there when there are great concerts in Bercy....
I booked a room there on 11th september too...
I've never been to Marseille before, I didn't find something really close to the venue there (at least 2,5 km), I'll stay at the new select hotel, seems to be cosy...

hope to meet you guys there :-)

You'll be lucky to get in 15 minutes before anyone else
for big concerts, bercy usually has 2 moshpits, the first one is really close to the stage, small, well in which you can easily breathe, without being crushed by some crazy slammers! the second one is bigger and contains those moshers!
    have fun there
  • Paris show was the first one I bought a ticket for and to be honest, I ended up regreting it cuz I thought there would be no one to go with. was I wrong or what?! it would be great if we could all meet before the show, I'd love to meet some new fans. let's keep in touch

I'll be arriving in Paris on the morning of the 11th, I hope to get tickets to the show... anyone have an extra or a pair? I'm meeting a friend of mine there that day, and I'd love to show him how AWESOME PJ is in concert! I didn't know I would be able to go, or I would have ordered 10C tickets! PM me if you can help me out!

Either way, I'll be at the venue to hang out and try to get tickets if I haven't gotten them yet! Hope to meet up with some of you there.

Im really hoping someone comes up with a local pub or area to meet up in. Im coming in from Canada that morning and have a day to kill! Nothing would make me feel more at home than a few English speakers - and to boot, Pearl Jam fans! A hotel with a few other people in the halls wouldn't hurt either.

Hope someone knows the area well!

Would love to meet up with other fans before the shows. I think we just need a place and set up the time. Any sugestions?

about the meeting points? what about meeting in front of the venue... it's the easiest way, I can be the one holding a sign, a card., any way to recognize each other... then going in a cosier place...
I don't know Marseille, but in Paris there are a lot of bars/pubs around bercy...

I had booked a ticket, flight and accommodation for the Pearl Jam gig in Paris on Sept 11th but I cannot go now. The ticket and flight are currently in the process of being sold but I have a TWIN ROOM in a hotel going if anyone is interested.

Here is the name of the hotel so do a search on google and see what you think.

    Saint Christophe
    17 Rue De Lacepede
    75005 Paris
    France

The price of the room was 117 euro and Ryanair will not give me a refund the b*st*rds! If you are interested please make me a reasonable offer and we'll arrange payment and change of names etc.

If no one on here is interested I'll try my luck on eBay.

    Cheers,
    Shane

  • My husband and me are going to the Paris show, i can't wait now!! We are going from London by Eurostar and are staying near the Gare de Lyon - which isn't far from Bercy. The hotels website is http://www.bastille-paris-hotel.com/ It's 95 euros a night for double room!
It would be good if some fans can meet up before the concert.
Anyone know what time will we be able to get our wristbands?
  • heallvenheallven Posts: 68
not yet, they're still waiting the confirmation time from Bercy
  • I can't believe how close it is now!!! Will we be getting another email from tenclub to say when to pick up the wristbands etc?
Hope there are some bars/cafe's nearby where fans can meet up.
