Sign it and feel free to suggest a show...

I do NOT want to hear it at MSG, especially not twice, or even 3 times, they could play it twice in one show!

I will sign this petition, and add a point.

They should start a show with Yellow Ledbetter. That would let everyone know "Allright fuckers - tonight is going to be fun".
  • they will, don't you worry!

yeah, this thread is pointless. You'll get your Ledbetter-less show.

that would be cool, start with YLB!!!!!
I'd be down with that... lights go down, one person comes up on stage, starts little wing for 10 minutes, then the band comes out and they go into YLB, followed by Comatose and a serious headache for me, whiplash, and one hell of a show!

where's the petition to stop people from thinking they have some kind of right to tell the band what songs to play or not?

    i'll sign that one.

    ;)
i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam

I just wish Mike went back to tagging cool classic rock songs on the end of Yellow Ledbetter rather than the Star Spangled Banner.

here's the 2000 tag mix for nostalgia reasons: http://www.f4kin-up.net/download/mp3/tr2k/24.mp3

I respectfully disagree. The fun of tour season with PJ is guessing and anticipating what they will play. Having input on their board about what songs we want to see or not see is part of the deal.

I don't mind Yellow Ledbetter; it's a nice moment for Mike and it's always fun because you never know what song fragments he might add to it. I remember one night he through in a little bit of "Nobody's Fault but Mine".
    That was really nice.

I dont understand why people dont like the show ending with YL. A lot of times, it comes in addition to RITFW, Baba, Fuckin Up, or something like one of those songs. I have been to 7 PJ shows, and every "true" PJ show (not counting Toledo 04 and Lolla 07) has ended with YL. To me it is the perfect goodbye. You know its the last song and its like a final reminder to just look around, or shut your eyes, and just take it all in. Or stand on your seat and snap a few pictures. I would not complain at all if every PJ show I go to the rest of my life ends with YL.
words seem so out of place.

in 3 shows in 2003 and the first show i went to in 2006 they didn't play yellow ledbetter. i was so excited when i finally got to hear it in hartford 06. i love this tune, hope i hear it this tour.

I agree! I once started a petition to have Deep played in Champaign. I posted EVERY SINGLE DAY about how bad I wanted to hear Deep in Champaign... then, during the show, from about 2 feet away, I see stone grab a slide, then the drums kicked in, and I was GOING NUTS!!!
Anyone remember how they brought back Leash?
I do think the band reads these threads, I also think the guys are sick of ledbetter, but play it because it is a huge hit(and a great song, just way overplayed)

true so you're sort of getting an extra song. YLB sort of sucks the life out of the crowd after something like Baba, or RITFW but I think that might be the point of them always playing it...to calm everyone (themselves included) down before ending

I like it. Mike gets to do his thing, Ed gets to mumble incoherently and you know that's the end of the show so you don't have that feeling when it's over like "are they gonna play one more?"
I smile, but who am I kidding...

YL is the perfect way to cap off a PJ show. It's a beautiful song and it is a pleasure to watch Mike get in that zone at the end and close it out....

Did you ever stop to think, maybe Yellow Ledbetter is just an added cookie?

What if you went to a show and it ended with say Rearviewmirror.. would you not want the band to come out and play one more song that happened to be Yellow Ledbetter?

awwww....what an image, an added cookie. :p i like it.
i think for most fans, it's simply a staple, expected.....it totally says, yes, the show is over and have a great night!

i do believe in italy? i think...they ended a show w/o YL. of course, i am not 100% certain. also, as others mentioned...it has happeed in the past as well. whateva. if i am there, i am HAPPY...it's all cookies......:D

If they opened w/ YL a good % of the people that listen to this band would probably get up and leave because of the confusion.
  • Stephen FlowStephen Flow Posts: 3,327
btw I've had 2 shows end with Alive and it felt very strange.
  • All I know is that in 2003 I went 4-4 in seeing RITFW end the show.

So for the love of God, please bury that one or at least don't play it at VA Beach or DC.

I'm one of those people who just accepts what they have to offer. I figure, if I limit the number of my wants... I reduce the number of possible disappointments. Besides, it's not everyday I get to see Pearl Jam play live. I'm not going to place expections on those nights.
I never leave a show with a feeling of something missed.
