- waiting for the avo!
- hearing my fave pearl jam song at my first pj gig
- stone entertaining that radelaide night 1 crowd

- getting a few friends a little more interested in pearl jam... even at the expense of my cd's and burner
- meeting mike - wow!
- finally... reassessing top/fave bands
London Astoria - First time for me since Roskilde - lack of words ;-) Especially Man Of The Hour made me almost cry. Waiting outside in the 400 metres queue and hearing the soundcheck with fellow Pearl Jam fans! Unforgettable
Barcelona - Front row, drinking from Ed's wine, Ed starring at me and throwing me the wine-tap, getting the setlist, Mike's and Jeff's pick
Bologna - Being there with my brothers was a great experience, two huge PJ fans as well. Hearing Alone, and standing with the Portuguese flag with this super cool girl
Verona - Need I say more? They SHOULDVE opened with Wash in the heave rain, but first time hearing Release was just perfect!! Standing front row in the very middle during the last two songs was spectacular. Mike sitting down and starting Yellow Ledbetter. Beautiful...
Milano - No pit tickets, but a great view from the upper left side, Go, Last Exit, Save you were great openers and among my absolute fav songs ;-) Crowd singing really good and the Keep On RITFW sign was beautiful..
Torino - TREMOR CHRIST
Berlin - Strong openers, and the crowd was THE BEST. Just listen to Black's version. better than Milano and all other sets they have ever played. In front of Mike was once again just mind-blowing. Ed going down to the crowd was really cool. too bad I was not standing in the middle...

the best is the entire gorge experience, the people the band and... the gorge itself. starting the chant night 2 was quite the experience, and was so much fun. thanks to the guys we were lucky to be next to at the show both nights, they were the coolest blokes and so much fun... and a mass thanks to the guys i travelled with at the gorge, some friendships ill hold for a lifetime.
then just the energy at LA night 2, and then off he goes, oh dear... deary.. me... yes that was a moment ill never forget.
LA night 1... the car park with the guys i had never met until that night, they were extremely nice and wicked fun. talk about awesome.
but as for particular songs outside off he goes? the singalongs within songs... eg hearing baba for the first time LA night 1, why go, daughter (its ok) gorge night 1! the surprise of dirty frank... ah and i wont forget in hiding night 2 gorge!!
to many to name really and i know im leaving so much out.
but in regards to newy and the killer shows in oz... i cant exchange that for the experience im having by travelling europe. so i honestly cant complain... best time of my life this trip and its only just heading towards the halfway mark. im one lucky bloke
Seeing Pearl Jam 7 times in one year
Gf with me for 5 of them
Vegas show
SB show...Great venue great weather
The SF run....the time of our lives...meeting some of the greatest people in line....SF 2 and RVM after 7 shows hearing it for the first time
Being second row or better each night
gettin two mike picks and one stone pick
unbelievable year
For me the 3 Melbourne shows that I went to. Definitely the highlight of my year, after the waiting drove me mad. Three years is a long time when it comes to waiting for PJ!
Melb 1. Having my 12 year old daughter with me to share the great experience (a pity she had a heavy cold and was therefore ill, had to have 4 days off school with that crowd, but she loves her Avocado t shirt and told all her teachers she saw PJ!).
My first ever 10 club seat at Melb 1. Was happy with the seat and 10 club didnt disappoint.
Leash and Blood at Melb 2.
Moment of the 3 concerts - definitely towards the end of Black (Melb 2) when Eddie sunk to the floor of the stage. An extremely emotional moment, I was almost concerned about him, but he was okay. Am a little surprised no-one else has mentioned Ed doing this. It was incredible, very moving and the rendition of Black was superb, with lots of do do dodod's at the end and a "we belong together.........." to wind up. Black has always been my favourite PJ song.
Long Road opener and Sad, Hail Hail and PRESENT TENSE at Melb 3. 4 songs I'd been wanting to hear but never expected to. Couldn't believe it when I was hearing the first few bars of PT, one of my top 10 favourite songs.
Dead Man and Off He Goes at Melb 2.
Hearing almost the entire Avocado album over the 3 nights (with the exception of Parachutes) especially my favourite Army Reserve and Inside Job.
Seeing Mike play his guitar behind his head; the light shining off the guitars; the game they played at Melb 3; feeling that they really didn't want to get off stage Melb 2; a guy giving me his girlfriend's seat at Melb 3, better seat than I was in; meeting some nice people at Melb 3.
Buying some great merchandise - 2 t shirts, 1 for my daughter, some great stickers and my first poster ever (wish I'd bought more now).
Meeting some of the guys/girls off the Lifewasted Board and partying with them after Melb 3 at the Queensberry Hotel. Everyone breaking out (albeit a little drunkenly!) some Pearl Jam songs after 3 in the morning and the whole pub of people singing them!
Albany-Hartford trip with Barely Alive. Great times at both shows. Hearing Red Mosquito in Albany. Hanging in the bar before the show with Solat13 and PhillyPJ during the pre-party. Hartford, decent show, good time hanging out with the "Philly Crew", getting pizza at "Magic Carpet Pizza" after the show.
Then the whole Camden weekend was awesome meeting even more awesome PJ folks, even Speedy that weekend. Met Fanch for the first time....he lived up to the hype!! Two awesome shows even with the half hour interlude with the convicts during Camden 1......or was it 2? Black was amazing!!!!!!
ERutherford was awesome....from Ed doing the "No Surrender" pre-set to the power going out...finally hearing Indifference after 10yrs...awesome two nights again.
Vegas.....well I dont really remember much of the show. I know Chromiam and I had a great time out there drinking 24ounce Fat Tire at the ESPN Zone and meeting a hot waitress from the Nine Fine Irishmen. We also ran into Grace9,467,462 and Chromiam damn near tackled her. Also ran into "Relationship Philly PJ" out there, just not the same as "Independent PhillyPJ".
The Gorge was AMAZING!!! The whole Seattle trip was incredible. If I could do one experience from this tour over it would be the entire Seattle trip. Seattle itself is amazing, the ride to and from the Gorge, just spectacular. Room 254 at the Ellensburg kicked ass! Soooo many good times from that trip. The venue there is incredible. Hearing Dirty Frank, Little Wing, Wash, I Wont Back Down, just to name a few was unbelievable, it was like an out of body experience being there. I cant wait to go back....only this time, Im not so sure I'll be coming back to Philly!
Everyone I hung out with and toured with this year, you guys are what made this tour so much fun and special!! To you guys...I say thanks, and I look forward to doing it again!!!!!!
1. hearing......
".......alot of....shitty songs. And we're gonna play one for ya right now." followed by the first few notes of Dirty Frank. I still get chills when I listen to the boot.
2. witnessing........
Bridge 2 with BridgeBitch, and hearing Gone, Thin Air, Black and Lukin acoustically, its hard to beat.......and of course, meeting all the Jammers.........
3. this hasn't happened yet, but hoping next month PJ announces the following dates in 2007:
- Seattle (at the Showbox, but really, it doesn't matter what venue. El Corazon would even suffice)
- Buffalo
- MSG
- any southern city
- Scotland
I think the highlight of the year for me... (and many other PJammers) will be the two concerts in Adelaide (and the rest of the country as well...)
The band never fail to surpass previous memories, and always put on a great show. Opening Adelaide 2 with PORCH was fantastic... a great crowd pleaser and mood lifter... it's raw energy is enough to get even the harded fan moving! Right through to ending the show with the timeless classic, YELLOW LEDBETTER. I hate Yellow Ledbetter... well no, i love it actually - but hearing that song always signals the end of a magical journey - and it's a 'painful' moment. We have to say goodbye... and wait with anticipation for the next helping!
Being introduced to the Kings Of Leon was great... we didn't know anything about them, and went along with open minds - THEY WERE AWESOME! I was blown away (Vitalogy tour in 1995 had opening act of The Meanies - sorry.... that's just not my kinda music!!) I'm gonna have to go out and buy some records to get more familiar with them! (KOL that is... not the meanies!)
Pearl Jam is certainly my year highlight... and that's saying an aweful lot as i got married and bought a house this year... but PJ still tops my list!
COME BACK SOON GUYS!!!!!!!
When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do...
Pearl Jam - Adelaide: 1995, 1998, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2014
Eddie Vedder Solo - Adelaide: 27th & 28th March 2011, Melbourne 16th 2014
-The beginning of even flow at the Astoria. I've not been to many gigs so i'd never experienced the feeling of having an entire crowd all jumping in one. When Even Flow kicked in, it felt like someone was just picking me up. everyone was jumping and it was such a rush.
- Just being amazed that i was actually watching the band come onstage at Lisbon 1. It just doesn't sink in for the first few moments. Boom started playing the Wasted Reprise intro, and Ed is leaning back with his arms in the air totally feeling it. Gave me chills.
-I've mentioned this in loads of other threads already, but the performance of Garden at Lisbon 2 was the most haunting thing i've ever heard. Hearing the crowd singing the original higher chorus while Ed sang it lower was just beautiful. The hair on my neck stood up, it almost brought tears to my eyes.
-Going to get a drink before the gig in Paris. Ament_To_That, Randall from Aussie land, Wash, Audiodave, Inside|The|Well and a couple others whose names escape me right now (sorry!), and we just chilled for an hour or so. Randall told the funniest stories, he absolutely killed me.
-During RITFW at Paris, i turned to see the two friends we'd made in the queue (Richard and Kay) and they were just holding each other and smiling and jumping up and down. It was so nice to see a couple really having a kickass time. It made me smile.
- Sitting in the restaurant/bar outside the venue in Verona with loads of other cool fans, then all of just thinking 'oh shit' when the rain came. Heaviest downpour i've ever seen! It settled down a bit later but initially it was bad! (Also quite fun trying to find the right entrance to go into and nearly falling over on my way to asking a security guard)
-Meeting Cropdustress and some other really cool people in the 10c queue in Milan. Chatting to them all just made the afternoon fly by, it was so much fun. And then we went on to see one of the best shows ever!
Just the combination of meeting so many great people and being part of so many great shows made this summer one of the greatest times i've ever had. thanks.
"This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them."
Pearl Jam is certainly my year highlight... and that's saying an aweful lot as i got married and bought a house this year... but PJ still tops my list!
I'll interpret the question as "highlights of the shows you've been to"
The encores in Grand Rapids, were absolutely fantastic. And my first Baba!
It's ok tag and Immortality in Cleveland...
Leash in Cincy.
The whole Verona show, absolutely incredible. But of course finally getting to hear my first Release opener. I was in disbelief.
Milan left me speechless. I was so proud of my hometowners, especially during Black and Daughter. Picture in a Frame was breathtaking, and I finally got to hear Man of the Hour.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
I've seen 17 shows since 2003, and I still haven't heard BREAKERFALL...but from this tour I've heard Dirty Frank, Leash, Rats, Satans Bed, It's Ok, Little Wing, Garden, and I'm Open
2003: Uniondale, MSG x2 | 2004: Reading | 2005: Gorge, Vancouver, Philly | 2006: East Rutherford x2, Gorge x2, Camden 1, Hartford | 2008: MSG x2, VA Beach | 2009: Philly x3 | 2010: MSG x2, Bristow | 2011: Alpine Valley x2 | 2012: MIA Philly | 2013: Wrigley, Charlottesville, Brooklyn 2 | 2014: Milan, Amsterdam 1 | 2016: MSG x2, Fenway x2, Wrigley 2 | 2018: Rome, Krakow, Berlin, Wrigley 2 | 2021: Sea Hear Now | 2022: San Diego, LA x2, MSG, Camden, Nashville, St. Louis, Denver | 2023: St. Paul 1, Chicago x2, Fort Worth x2, Austin 2 | 2024: Las Vegas 1, Seattle x2, Indy, MSG x2, Philly x2, Baltimore, Ohana 2
No its not sad. I had a blast hanging with you and Red Lukin listening to the Pittsburgh soundcheck. I just wish you had gotten that song at a show. I was praying for u man.
ohh and Lowlight in Toronto....I was in SHOCK. Was NOT expecting to hear that one AT ALL that night.
I still dont know why they call it lowlight... It is definitely a highlight!
(Was when I saw it in sydney 2 anyway)
I couldnt help but smile when Smile popped up in sydney 3...
Avocado tracks have been awesome....
I managed to see:
Lifewasted
World Wide Suicide
Comatose
Severed Hand
Marker
Unemployable
Big Wave
Gone
Wasted Reprise
Army Reserve
Come Back
But Inside Job was very much a highlight for me.....
PJ Sydney 1998-03-09, 2003-02-11, 2003-02-14, 2006-11-07, 2006-11-08, 2006-11-18, 2009-11-22, 2014-01-26, 2024-11-21, 2024-11-23
EV Sydney 2011-03-18, 2011-03-19, 2014-02-11, 2014-02-13
So the tour is almost over with only Perth and Hawaii to go.. What a year it has been seemed like the world tour was been going for ages and ages. The guys must be so tired after months and months of making us proud.
For me I have so many memories of PJ from 2006. The highlights included;
- Tim Robbins w/ I must not think bad thoughts at LA 2
- Entire Acoustic set at Santa Barbara (Hard To Imagine, Lowlight to name a few)
- The Gorge camping experience. Something I will NEVER forget
- Dirty Frank/Wash at Gorge 1
- Daughter/It's Ok at Gorge 1
- Immortality, DGNL at Adelaide 1
- Thin Air, Nothing As It Seems and Present Tense at Adelaide 2
Number 1 high was meeting so many awesome Pearl Jammers from America and Australia. What a year I have had..
This can be a thread to post your thoughts on tour 06' and your personal highs and lows. go nuts...
Ed screaming "Pussies No More" after Leash (E Ruth I).
"there's a lot to be said for nowhere...."
1996 - Randall's Island II 1998 - MSG I
2000 - Jones Beach II & III 2003 - Uniondale, MSG I & II
2006 - E. Ruth I & II 2007 - Lollapalooza
2008 - MSG I & II, Hartford 2009 - Philly IV
2010 - Newark, MSG I & II
Nothing can top the awesome (I use the word in it's true meaning) experience that it was. Who would have thought Pearl Jam would come to London and play in such a legendary venue out of the touring season? The whole thing was mind boggling. No wonder so many people didn't believe it.

Well, I have the bootleg of the Astoria show and wished I also was over there in April. Really laughed when the fucked up the intro of Comatose
BTW: I also listened to the Dublin and Verona bootlegs. NICE
Oh, and someone said before that the Astoria was the first time any song from Avocado had been played live. Not quite...

Probably two of the most contrasting moments you'll ever see
Pearl Jam bootlegs:
http://wegotshit.blogspot.com
-The beginning of even flow at the Astoria. I've not been to many gigs so i'd never experienced the feeling of having an entire crowd all jumping in one. When Even Flow kicked in, it felt like someone was just picking me up. everyone was jumping and it was such a rush.
- Just being amazed that i was actually watching the band come onstage at Lisbon 1. It just doesn't sink in for the first few moments. Boom started playing the Wasted Reprise intro, and Ed is leaning back with his arms in the air totally feeling it. Gave me chills.

Just the combination of meeting so many great people and being part of so many great shows made this summer one of the greatest times i've ever had. thanks.

Nothing can top the awesome (I use the word in it's true meaning) experience that it was. Who would have thought Pearl Jam would come to London and play in such a legendary venue out of the touring season? The whole thing was mind boggling. No wonder so many people didn't believe it.
