So the tour is almost over with only Perth and Hawaii to go.. What a year it has been seemed like the world tour was been going for ages and ages. The guys must be so tired after months and months of making us proud.

For me I have so many memories of PJ from 2006. The highlights included;

- Tim Robbins w/ I must not think bad thoughts at LA 2
- Entire Acoustic set at Santa Barbara (Hard To Imagine, Lowlight to name a few)
- The Gorge camping experience. Something I will NEVER forget
- Dirty Frank/Wash at Gorge 1
- Daughter/It's Ok at Gorge 1
- Immortality, DGNL at Adelaide 1
- Thin Air, Nothing As It Seems and Present Tense at Adelaide 2

Number 1 high was meeting so many awesome Pearl Jammers from America and Australia. What a year I have had..

This can be a thread to post your thoughts on tour 06' and your personal highs and lows. go nuts...
I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

Sha la la la i'm in love with a jersey girl

I love you forever and forever :)

  • Leash being brought back at Boston II.
  • Going to my first PJ concert - SF1. Then proceeding to go to SF2, SF3, Bridge1, Bridge2, and now Hawaii.

Bridge second night - Dedication and congratulations to Maricore, acoustic Lukin :D, and first time hearing Black (acoustic, WBT, and Ed with tearful highnotes).

Pearl Jam fans raising a lot of money for CCFA during US pre-show parties.

Here's one highlight that could have been - Bonowall kicking DMB fans ass on the lawn at Bridge 1. :D

  • - Black at Camden II - really very chilling
    - the Acoustic set at Camden II
    - Come Back and Present Tense at Camden I
    - Best seats I've ever had I Pittsburgh and Ed making eye contact with me the whole time  (Ok maybe it was only in my head...but a girl can dream)
    - Ed's joint speech at Pittsburgh - he was hysterical that night
-Finally meeting people who love PJ as much as I do. Where have u all been my whole life? haha

    1. The Astoria

    2. Leash at Dublin

    3. Pre-set at Pistoia 'Throw your arms around me'.
  • RATS debut in Albany. Hell, the entire Albany show is absolutely fantastic.
  • finally seeing them live was a highlight itself, but if i have to pick one thing, i would definitely go for that very moment during the vienna show, when ed himself, in front of the eyes of the whole arena, did mention "us" , the most enthusiastic hungarian jammers at the front :D
stood at the top of the hill over my town i was found. finding myself used to be hard but now i see the light. this is music.

Inside Job opening in Dublin, i never expected that to open....... it was just amazing.

boot wise: the first 7 songs from Bern. i got tired listening to that, i can't imagine what it would have been like to be there

as well as Leash and Dirty Frank!!!
  • The whole day at Reading was awesome. Going nuts to Slayer, drinking myself stupid with my non PJ fan friends and dissing all the crappy British 'pop' bands on show!

And then, Eddie takes the stage 'This is the time... this is the place' in his old, earthy drawl before ripping into Interstallar Overdrive/Corduroy - an entire farmers field full of people screaming at the top of their lungs 'THE WAITING DROVE ME MAD'

Amazing..... I felt funny after that night. Elated but flat - like i was on the biggest drug comedown. I couldnt possibly see how it could ever be topped.

Then, of course the next week in Barcelona - a different experience but almost better in many ways. Not as many people but a fiery, urgent gig of only 24 songs and Ed and McReady going nuts with Wolfmother. Black, Crazy Mary... In My Tree... and who can forget Hungerstrike... an INCREDIBLE gig that doesnt get as much respect on this board that it should do.

And to think I nearly didnt go to Marseille the week after due to work commitments... I actually thought it wouldnt be that good anyway and I didnt want to taint my memories of the most amazing to nights of my life. But oh my god - this was arguably the pick of the bunch! A room of only about 7,000 people and a setlist to die for...

Long Road to open with, Fatal, Off He Goes and without doubt the best version of Black i have ever heard both live or on boots. The tag 'I'd be lying/if i said i dont love you/dont love/ no more.... noooooo more/we dont belong together... together....' the tu tu tu tu tututu carried by the crowd long after the song has finished. And then, in the last encore, Dirty Frank and Leash....

    Simply incredible.

And all the people I met - I had no idea there were others out there like me. And soooo many of you. Lining up with the 10 Club for hours on end was as much fun as I have had in a long time!

I love you all. I love the music. I love this band of ours.

What a fucking amazing end to the summer.
  • The Astoria show....quite simply.

Not only a highlight of this year but a highlight of my entire life. Nights this special do not come along very often and I've never smiled from ear to ear at a show for two hours straight like I did that evening.

If Elderly Woman didn;t move you to tears that night then you must have a heart of stone.

The double whammy of Indifference and Black at Dublin was kinda special too, as well as hanging out with the group we met the night before....you guys made our trip and you know who you are :)

    The Astoria show....quite simply.

I'm with Jim. Some may say not the best setlist (though first time ANY song from the avocado was played. Some may say it was a short show BUT.......

it was the most magical moment ever! My first PJ show (after having tickets for two but not able to attend or show cancelled), a tiny venue, fanclub tickets, the energy, the emotions.... I was too stunned to do much after the show... I was in my little heaven! I want Astoria back again (failing that.. can we have a proper boot, please??)

That's also when I met a great group of people from the board and we met up again in Dublin, and we still try to meet up anywhere when we can....

Throw your arms around me camden II

    crown of thorns Chicago II
  • Release and Inside Job in Verona.
The amazing Milano setlist and the crowd, esp Black, a special version, the tururu end when the crowd is singing for like a minute after they quit playing.
Also Unemployable, my fav from the new album and Faithfull, always amazing to hear some rare Yield.

The *Unemployable>You Are>Sad* trio of the Prague show, I absolutely love these songs and Ive never dreamed Id hear them in one show, not to mention in a combo like this  Plus, also, the acoustic *MAN* set, that was a sweet surprise ;)

Hearing Present Tense for the first time ever in Berlin... and another  SHOCK when I heard first notes to Footsteps.

Vienna was another great show, but I Got Id and SOLAT prolly my highlights. also when Ed went out and sang Last Kiss in the crowd. :) And Inside Job starting with him running back to the stage.
Also, (yeah, theres more), Wishlist was pretty special, with the mirrorball and all, from front row I had a great view and also got myself a few sweet pics to cherish that memory :)

Oh yeah, one more from Vienna, when I threw to Ed a shirt I got for Stone (we had 5 shirts we were gonna throw on stage by Zagreb show, for each of them, the one in Vienna was for Stone). Anyways, I was gonna throw it, hastitated a lil bit anf Ed gave me a sign to thow it to him, so I did :D

But, Zagreb was def the best of all. The entire show was a highlight. Starting hard, rocking out to Severed Hand, and when Ed spoke Croatian for the first time ever: just wow! we were all in awe! Is this that really happening?
The crowd was amazing, so was the band, of course, but the bond that night was def something special, and im sure those of you who were there will agree. Being in front row certainly gave a special touch to the whole thing, plus gettting way too emotional during Unemployable>>In Hiding, just bawling during those two cause it was too effing good :o
And Porch! Omg, if that isnt a highlight, than I dunno what it is! That was unbelievable and i seriously thought I was dreaming :o
The same when Ed went in the crowd, ran around a lil bit and during ALIVE pulled out MY flag (that ended up on stage in Vienna, and my other flag eneded up there in ZG when I winked Mike), haha. So many highlights, should I say more? The constant smiling towards Mike and him smiling back and pointing to us, me, and throwing pics, even a shirt and a watter bottle to me at the end of the show. simply amazing! Those guys are the real thing!
My words cant even describe how I felt after the tour, but esp after this show. This entire show was amazing and a highlight itself! :D:)
    Ok, im done. :D

  • Astoria. My first PJ show. No Boom, no fancy lights, just PJ in the capital city of Rock and Roll. The concert premiere of 8 songs. The first time they played Why Go in years. The fact that EVERY SINGLE PERSON there was screaming their lungs out during every song. That third encore.... just mesmerising from the moment Stone played the riff to the moment Ed swung windmills with the mic. And of course, seeing all five of them leave the stage, each with a wholesome grin on their faces.

    but not forgeting
-The live debut of Inside Job in Toronto, complete with lasers and all
-Dropping the Leash at Boston II
-Playing Corduroy with the legendary Benmont Tench in Denver
-The moving story of Long Road in San Diego
-Fucking up Sometimes in San Fran, funnier than watching Bush sweat in November...
    -Dirty Frank at the Gorge
-Playing The Boys Are Back In Town in Dublin
-Dublin speech 'Nothing against America, but I couldn't wait to get over here and actually hear people singing' :D
-'This is the time, this is the place' at Reading
    -*That* encore in Marseille
-Playing in Pistoia, perhaps the most haunting place PJ ever played??
-Ed paying his respects to the Campione de Mundo in Milan
    -Newcastle

and hopefully more. This has probably been the best year of Pearl Jam's existence.

sure there with you, especially on Zagreb, Sid (but then I was next to you :))..awesome show..forgot that you'd been crying too...but then Gitta's topped it!..glad you didn't see me bawling out in Athens!
the shirt was definitely for me though ;)

but The Astoria..first show after all these years of waiting..and what a show! all the new songs played for the VERY FIRST TIME! the crowd response..and the guys reaction to it.. the stupid smile I sported for 2 days (with hardly any sleep) straight after comes back on my face just thinking about it (and that same smile I got after Zagreb..that's telling!)

Well, I saw my first Pearl Jam show, and my only one this year. The highlight was, without a doubt, hearing Release. Opening up with my favorite song, and hearing those opening chords to a crowd that is about to lose their heads, the blue lights shining behind the bands so you can only see their outlines...amazing.

for me it was the lisbon shows , amazing setlists on both nights and some of the best versions of some songs i have ever heard .

i still cant understand why the abstance of lisbon in everyones highlights , we were the only city with 2 shows in the entire tour , theres gotta be a reason for that right?

-The entire Astoria experience. From winning the tickets to seeing the guys arrive to hearing soundcheck to the amazing show itself I was on cloud nine and could hardly believe it wasn't all a dream.
-Shaking hands with Ed after Lisbon 1. Just very cool.

-Meeting Jeff in Milano the day after the gig. Good, good time.
-The entire Avocado and Tremor Christ in Torino as well as Jeff throwing me his wristband after Baba. Also, catching Mike's encore setlist. An amazing way to end my tour and leave me wanting more and more...

Hearing those first notes of the tour in Toronto as Master/Slave turned into Severed Hand and being about two feet away from the band as they walked on stage. People forget because we've had so many shows this year, but fans were going nuts with anticipation of shows. Just being there to see them kick off the tour (minus the warmup shows) was something special. I went to seven other shows this year (Toronto II, both St. Paul, both Gorge and both Bridge shows) but seeing them that first night was insane because there was such a vibe of anticipation in the air. I think a lot of my highlights revolved around the people I went with, the people I met and the whole roadtrip/PJ experience which is unique to any band.

I have hopefully another HIGHLIGHT but I need to see if it happened. I will let you know
