Was second row Mike's side and think if I wasn't an earplug wearer would have been too loud but as others have said earplugs made the sound clearer as well as quieter.
For the person asking about earplugs I use alpine music safe earplugs.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

would you care to post a link to wear you got them from. i have already been given a link to other earplugs, but would like to see what else is on the market. i have tickets for a Kings Of Leon show in a month, and would like to test a new pair of earplugs there.

I bought them a while ago so can't remember the website I bought them from ... I put "Alpine Music Safe" into google hoping I'd recognise the website I got them from but it wasn't in the first couple of pages of hits although there seem to be a lot of websites that sell them so should be easy to get hold off.

Wembley is infamous for having a poor sound quality, but opinions will always be divided depending on where you were in the hall on the night. Add to that the capabilities of the sound crew (most, if not all, bands will have their own techs), and if they've engineered a show there before.
I was sat in S5, first row above the floor, which equates to about halfway back of the standing area (quarter of the way back in terms of the whole hall) on Mike's side. The sound was pretty awful for the opening two songs; Mike's guitar was WAY too loud, we couldn't hear Stone and the drums were too loud.
The desk managed to sort it out by the end of the third song, but for the rest of the gig the drums sounded pretty poor (massive boom on the bass drum) and it generally all too loud I thought. Jeff dipped in and out on a few songs but was generally perfectly audible from where we were sat. The guitars were nicely balanced for the rest of the gig too, even Stone's acoustic during the quieter tracks. Couldn't hear Boom at all, except when he duelled with Mike during 'Crazy Mary').
The only consistently good performance, sound-wise, for us was Ed. I don't think it sounded this loud/bad when I saw them from roughly the same spot in May 2000.
All that aside, I had an amazing night; a top gig, great setlist, and I sung myself hoarse and danced my arse off!

My conclusion on the show is that although I enjoyed the hell out of it, the sound was just so overwhelming I'm struggling to actually remember what I heard.
If I don't hear a boot, I'm worried that my memories of the gig will fade, purely because of crap Wembley acoustics. The loud tracks were mostly just a wall-of-noise. I NEED that boot if I'm going to make any sense of it.
Highlights were Long Road, Present Tense, Immortality, Faithful, Crazy Mary and Low Light because for these songs I found the sound crystal clear.
Many of the faster tracks were largely cringe-worthy soundwise. Severed Hand jus got lost. State of Love and Trust is one of my favourite songs, but it lost about half the impact due to the sound.
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

i could not have said it better myself. i too, cant wait for the boot.

The only thing you could've said better yourself would've been 'Low Light' instead of 'Light Years'.
Typo of the century.

I was at the Ozzy Osbourne concert at the Arena (June 19th) and the sound was better. I believe this had to do with the different set of speakers that Ozzman's crew had set up.
on the floor, central about 4/5 row I thought the sound quality was perfect: 11/10
They turned up Mike after the first few songs...definitely evident during Immortality

Seems like most of the problems were on mike's side. It was fine from where I was in the middle - not outstanding, but not poor at all.

I have been to over 30 concerts at Wembley over the last 25 years and almost without exception the sound has been BAD!! The echo is awful and the sound often gets muddy and distorted. No bad reflection on PJ or their crew thats just how Wembley is due to its layout.
I think an earlier comment hit the nail on the head regarding the performance. Nice setlist for diehards, well chosen Eddie!! The atmosphere was good but nothing on Reading festival for many reasons. I also agree the sound at Reading was outstanding for a festival. Not sure about Eddie being unhappy with the sound although he did seem a little put out by something.
Maybe next time they will play a few other UK venues to give more people a chance to see them and also to hear them a little clearer too
On a personal note I cant believe they are playing 3 dates in Germany and only 1 UK one. Still, maybe next time.
