Yes. I really don't give a fuck if people don't like it and I'm not a fan of guns.

I used to wear this shirt around my college campus in the mid 90s and got tons of comments about it. All agreeing with the message of the shirt. It was pretty ironic since I went to a VERY conservative school. I put it away years ago because I just don't like shirts with that big printed picture on the front anymore.

I imagine someone not comfortable wearing the shirt wouldn't have bought it in the first place, unless they are a completist collector.

You Americans and your guns... I will never understand. Australia has so little gun violence because we have tough gun laws. Only farmers need guns. Sportsmen too, yes. But you don't need a gun at home. :fp:

I wear mine all the time at work, to me it's the coolest PJ t-shirt on sale right now. I just don't give a f*ck about people who stare at me while wearing it. They simply don't get the message. I have had to explain it to some people who have asked me about it and they end up digging it too.
If I knew where it was, I would take you there.

  • I agree that the message is as relevant now as it was then. I have the original and need to dig it out and see if it fits now that I have recently lost a few pounds. Will wear it proudly.

I'm not sure why that is ironic. Are you insinuating that conservatives generally like to let kids play with guns?

I think it's ironic that liberals would wear such a shirt when a few years earlier they would have had no problem aborting the same child out of convenience. But wanting to responsibly own a gun to protect your children makes the conservatives the bad guys?

  • Regardless of the message it's probably the worst shirt I have ever seen. I'm surprised to see people actually bought it let alone wear it.

i still have mine from 1992, and i wear it at my gigs all the time. i get compliments on it. i had retired it for maybe 5 years and i think since virginia tech i began to wear it more often. i am completely fine wearing it. if people are offended by the shirt, then that is their own issue to deal with.

I'm not saying that conservatives want kids to play with guns, what I'm saying is that a lot of times conservatives take any mention of something anti-gun as a personal insult and get worked up over it. Like you've just done here...

And as for your little abortion dig there, termination of a pregnancy is not just done by poor, black, teenage girls. There are plenty of times when nice, married, 30-something, white couples have to make difficult decisions to terminate a pregnancy and many of those are labeled an abortion, especially in Texas. And to turn around your dig at liberals. It's nice when conservatives fight tooth and nail to save that child and then want no part of caring for it after it's born.

Love the shirt. Always wanted it. Never bought it. Almost did and then I realized I'd be wearing it around my now 5 year old and all her friends and I didn't think it would be that appropriate. And I didn't want to force a conversation on other parents it their kids said something or asked.

So, while I love the shirt, I am not currently comfortable wearing it.

I kind of think that someone not wearing that shirt because of real life issues with gun violence would actually be making a statement about trying to ignore reality, and purposefully not making a statement about the issue. IMO the shirt is more relevant than ever..... I don't even wear t-shirts - the last rock t-shirt I owned was a Zeppelin one in 1993. But still.

Yes, I was REALLY insulted and worked up… I think you need to work on your reading comprehension. I’m not sure why you need to make your post racial, but I will be ignoring that part. I’m not surprised, because it’s what liberals do, but I will still be ignoring it. I do love the typical rhetoric and platitudes you throw out. You should ask yourself if that is really what your beliefs are based on.

Birth control is dirt cheap, and even if you are trying, it’s actually pretty tough to get pregnant. There really is no reason for “accidents” to occur. Plus I know many parents who had a hell of a time adopting a baby, there are plenty of loving parents out there wishing they could have kids. Let’s throw out medical issues and rape, there are at times need for an abortion. I’m talking about the ~95% of abortions that are done out of convenience. If abortions were tougher to get, people would be more careful because there is no fall back (“do over”) option. You act as that all aborted babies would be born and need care. What is the left doing to take care of our children….? We all see the damage that is being done to their future by the current administration’s reckless policies.

MG79478 brought it up when he/she responded to my first post. It's obvious we are not going to agree on either gun control or abortion so I'll let it rest so this thread can get back to the original topic (which I kinda guess was sort of about gun control! :) )

I definitely took it to be about gun control. ;) And I think it's a great shirt - anyone who thinks more gun control is needed should like this shirt for that message, because it's a poignant one.
