How in the fuck did this turn into a debate about abortion???

MG79478 brought it up when he/she responded to my first post. It's obvious we are not going to agree on either gun control or abortion so I'll let it rest so this thread can get back to the original topic (which I kinda guess was sort of about gun control! :) )

I think its time to abort this conversation......

I kind of think that someone not wearing that shirt because of real life issues with gun violence would actually be making a statement about trying to ignore reality, and purposefully not making a statement about the issue. IMO the shirt is more relevant than ever..... I don't even wear t-shirts - the last rock t-shirt I owned was a Zeppelin one in 1993. But still.

Or of course they could simply be showing sensitivity depending on where they live and when they choose to wear it or not.

Sure....... I guess. I would personally not have an issue wearing that shirt in Newtown (if I wore shit like that). Sometimes this whole sensitivity thing goes too far.

Sure, but I can't wear it at work. Or pretty much not for a candle night dinner downtown ..

But any where's else, sure. I'm comfortable wearing the Choices shirt.

When talking about adults maybe, but I tend to think people are way too insensitive towards children with what the wear, say, and how they act.

In some cases... in others, I think they are too sheltered. Depends on what you're talking about, of course.

I'm not a gun fan. I needed a gun only once in my entire life.

I came home one night, and my apartment door was open. My parrot was screaming like someone had ripped out every feather. I was too scared to enter, and I knew how freaked out my animals must have been. My neighbor at the time had arms, so I went over and asked for help. In less then a minute, I find out nothing was wrong. That gun made me feel safe.

I still have the original one I bought in the 90s, it still fits and I still wear it occasionally. I think it's a really cool design and I've never had any problems from other people over it.

I will never know. Unfortunate as it seems, my parrot doesn't speak English. I have had a security system installed ever since it happened. My aunt visited and went out side to smoke a cigarette before I woke up, recently. She set off the alarm and didn't realize. The police showed up before she could even finish the cigarette. THAT was embarrassing.

Its a sad state of affairs when people feel they cannot wear a shirt that shows how they stand on an issue. Its not offensive, its not derogatory or in bad taste. Its no different to wearing a All Different, All Equal shirt or a shirt or an animal welfare. I've just never felt that way and I've lived in America, Europe and now Australia.

Except everyone is assuming they are wearing the shirt around adults. Personally I've seen plenty of people wearing shirts around young children that were completely inappropriate.

Sure why not. Its my "Choice" to or not  I dont think many people now know the meaning of the shirt. People now have seen so much more shocking things than a PJ Choices shirt.

Someone gave me this shirt a while ago. I never bought it when it came out. Not that I don't agree with the message, just the design never appealed to me.
I hardly ever wear it, only because I want to keep it in good shape, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with wearing IT or anything else that sends a message that you support or agree with.

As far as wearing it around children, I think its a good thing. If it starts a dialogue, that's great IMO, kids need to talk about these things, and should. IF you think that they don't think about stuff like this, or that they never see it on the news or hear about it from friends, you are absolutely wrong. They have fears and questions and worries and want some answers, or just want to talk it out, like adults do....and they need it.
So as far as wearing it being inappropriate around kids, I disagree.

Maybe, just maybe, having a kid want to know what that picture on the shirt means, could keep another kid safe and alive some time in the future. You never know.

Trust me I see your point. But for things like guns or shirts that just say "fuck" on them, kinda be nicer if the parents got to pick the time and place they teach their kids about it rather than some other person who thought it might be cool to wear that type of shirt to chuck e cheese. If it out about in normally adult areas wear what you want. But if you are going to the children's museum with your niece, have some respect for others. That's what I'm talking about.

I'm afraid that I know a grown man who has a shirt that says, in huge lettering, "Fuck you you fucking fuck", and he wears it in public, but usually just because he was in public on the way to his in-laws' place for Sunday dinner. True story.

WTF? Really? Thats outrageous  Fuck em. I proudly wore it until it fell apart back in the day (the original shirt) and I bought the re-release one a couple of years ago. Hell yea I still wear it >>>>>>>>

    Its my Avatar too.

EDIT: thats actually boiled my piss. People see you wearing a tshirt with a girl on it and say to your face "that sends the wrong message". Man I'd be close to losing it. It says more about them than you.

Why give a shit who gets what message from a pearl jam t shirt?

It's not cliché, it's just the simple truth.
