ZiggyStar wrote:Remember how I was have those BAD seafood cravings? And I kept saying that maybe I'm lacking in something? Well I think I just figured it out!
I used to add a fair bit of salt to my cooking eg rice, pasta etc and at the beginning of the year, I ran out of salt and then realised that I didn't really notice the difference in taste so stopped using it all the time. I always used Saxa iodised salt but I also had half a bottle of Home Brand (uniodised) salt which we've been using ever since. Well I need to buy more salt and googled up iodised vs uniodised. It said that iodine in your diet is essential and you get it from iodised salt and SEAFOOD.
The seafood cravings started as soon as I ran out of iodised salt! A HA! I'm a genius!
Tasmanians lack iodine cos we dont have Iodine in the soil, so we dont get it from vegetables... When I was in kinder and during primary school we use to be given goitre tablets to supplement it. The teacher would hand the tin around and we would all take one out and swallow.. It was a big tin full of little tablets. Now they add it to bread and I think milk.
If u lack in iodine u develop thyroid goitre problems ...0 -

Ohhh...I better start having it again then! What is goitre?
My sister just went back to her obstetrician for her check up after having her fallopian tube removed. She just got a list of stuff she should be taking this time around like fish oil, iodised salt, iron tablets, other vitamins etc. She had no idea. She was just taking the folate tablets. That other stuff helps your body conceive apparently.
So I definitely better get back on that iodised salt.★ 1995 - Brisbane ★ 1998 - Brisbane ★ 2003 - Brisbane ★ 2006 - Brisbane ★

So is the new album out yet?
I got a trivia question last week about goitre and answered it correctly. It was a bit of a guess I must admit.
Maybe Im gonna conceive...the tummy looks a little pudgy. I take fish oil every day, iron and selenium every second, a multi, a mega B&C, flaxseed oil, vitamin E and the odd eckyI'll ride the wave where it takes me.0 -
