Well, that's my flight booked (raging because it was £20 cheaper yesterday - damn me and my swithering) so I'll be arriving a Dub airport at 11.50 from Glasgow on the 23rd.

Still stuck for accomodation ideas. Am foolishly trying to find somewhere cheap, quiet, close to point? Yeah, moon on a stick time.

Quite a few jammers seem to be suggesting Jury's Inn Custom House but it's a bit more ££ than I was looking to spend (typical Scot), then again I could try and charm family into contributing as part of birthday..

What are your accomodation suggestions guys?

I'll update you as soon as I'm sorted.

    C
Avalon House is where I'm staying. not exactly close to the Point but close enought to teh Temple Bar area, where we'll stop anyway on teh way back by the look of it.
And it's cheap. not sure about availability though, I booked weeks ago.

Can I just ask, whats the meet up point ? Is it still The Temple Bar?
Just wondered - as myself and himself (Cagey) will meet up for deffo :D

Well, I'd imagine a taxi into town is somewhere maybe around 25euro which between 4 is very little. The bus is about 7 or 8 return I think.

Anyone know about this? I don't live in town so I know taxis to my place are cheap.

Yep, but that's 40euro for 4 people so if a taxi's only 20quid it works out the same for more comfort straight to where you're going.

  • OK, I bit the bullet and tapped various relatives for early bday donations (maybe they'll forget by the time my bday rolls around next month) and have booked the Jury's Inn Custom House thingumy.

So, flight + hotel = booked and paid for, now all I need to do is hope my panic attacks calm down enough for me to make it there, handle the crowds and not spend the entire gig in a bathroom somewhere vomiting with nerves.

    *fingers crossed*

Oh and also, ask for a 7 seater taxi

Two taxis for the price of one - even better :)

  • You can get the airlink bus from the airport into town...

Airlink Express Bus (Dublin Bus Routes 747 & 748) service linking Dublin Airport with City Centre (O'Connell Street & Parnell Square), Busaras (Central Bus Station), Connolly Train Station and Heuston Train Station. Services depart the airport from 0545 - 2330 at 10/20 minute intervals. Fare is EUR5.00 single (Purchase a 1 Day Bus pass for the same price rather than buy a single ticket) , EUR2.00 for under 16s. This service is non-stop.

    Much cheaper than aircoach :D
    Hope this helps lads :)

Stoney........ If the info on your arrival is correct (because HH put 'I think' next to it!), you're arriving just about a hour after me... you're the only one at that time. Are you travelling by yourself? Do you want to hook up at the airport? I'll be a bit lonely !!!!!

i'm good with taxi's etc... we could all meet at airport and then get into Dublin and go get breakfast, do whatever, etc, other things

we'll exchange text numbers beforehand... got Daves and a few others, but makes sense if we all arrive within 5 mins of each another we should all meet up before hand :)

  • I'm tellin ya, get the airlink . you'll save a fortune. It goes from right outside the arrivals door and drops you right in o'connell street or parnell square.
A taxi from dublin airport will kill ya moneywise !!!

i know i know.... i just dont like travelling with riff-raff and stuff... just like Bono's hat, i like to travel in style on my rare jaunts out of Scotland... plus i dont care how much it costs... i'm loaded ;);)

nah, seriously... if the bus is at the door, we'll probably just get it... if not then a taxi shared between 4 is gonna be 7 or 8 euros each... which is only 3 euros difference... which is about 1/118th of a pint of guiness in relative terms :)

i was planning on using the power of 'memory' so i could recognise you Dave... but i'll try and guess who you are by measuring smiles upon faces... I just hope that i dont meet the gay air steward who just got sucked off in the bogs.... could be confusing that one  :(
