Awards are for people wrapped up in ego and image. Perhaps artists have more depth to know that awards really, in the grand scheme of things, means shit. I heard that Gotye (who won for record of the year) said that he doesn't want to be known for a single, he wants the world to hear the rest of his work because he's about so much more, yet the Grammys and others are only interested in that one song.
this is one area I really have to respect and give props to Billy Corgan. While 99% of the time he comes off as a whiney douchebag, his Teargarden project and subsequent Oceania tour really made me respect him again as an artist. He got tired of people downloading just singles, so he gave away one song at a time, every 6 weeks or so, so people would listen to each song the way it was meant to be heard, not just skipped over. And when he toured Oceania, they played the entire album front to back at every show, followed by the second set of older stuff. He obviously sacrificed ticket sales over this, but it's what he wanted to do, and he made no apologies for it. He could have just got D'arcy or Melissa and James back and did an anniversary tour and made a boat load of cash. But he's moving forward, and that's why he fired Jimmy, who just wanted to tour as a nostalgia act. And I really dig the new stuff too.

He must like acting too much because he now looks like an over the top movie character all the time. His tan/outfits/attitude is very off putting.

I don't care what an actor looks like in his personal life.
