Yeah, did he address the asshole who threw the shirt. Hey listen up: HE DOESN;T WANT YOUR FUCKING SHIRT. Jersey assholes. Perfect example.

hate to break it to ya, but there were many, many people there from outside of jersey. no need to be rude. what a stupid thing to say.

here's an idea- next time, stay the fuck home. more tickets for us jersey assholes. or, maybe you live in bumfuck, pennsylvania and the boys don't play there? gee, that sucks for you, then.

My take on the whole thing is this: Eddie did fastball a pick at Jeff. He broke his string on the next song as he hammered away. Then he tossed the mic stand on the next song. Finally he tossed his guitar at his monitor at the end of RVM and left the stage without the rest of the guys before the song was over. When they came back out Mike was pepping him up. Pats on the back, half a hug, etc...
As far as Mike's solo, I think it rocked both nights. I could read Matt's lips right after, as he approached Mike. He said "that was awesome".

sounds to me like he was being a fucking prima donna. maybe the band needs to kick his ass before the next show, snap his ass back down to earth. :)

Considering the amount of passion, creativity and energy he lets out on stage, this is small shit. I'm sure his bandmates & crew forgive him and understand. Some things come with the territory. I'd also bet money he makes it up to them.

As for the photographer, he was a moron and deserved anything he got.

why do I find this thread so entertaining?

I read earlier speculation that Ed was angry with Mike because he wasn't 'into' the songs enough, or something like that. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I like this version of events much better. Good job snagging the towel!!!

The original version you heard was the correct one. The pick was thrown in Mike's direction, but did come a lot closer to hitting Jeff - and while mccready was hamming it up for the Phillies and their girlfriends that were sidestage, he was playing a half assed Garden, and it resulted in anger from Ed for the entire second half of the song - it wasn't something that happened after the song. Hence the little speech Ed gave before the first encore, Mike's subdued nature during the encore, and he and Mike "hugging it out" before Encore #2.

With the photographer, while that is Camden security's fault, I am sure they were a little confused by the presence of Danny and his son.

Bigger Wave, not to be an asshole or chastize, but press photographers are allowed 3 songs at any pearl jam show before being escorted out. On several occasions you will see Kerensa, Danny Clich, Lance Mercer, or Charles Peterson (not so much for the last two lately) taking photos at any point in the show, and you may see Liz or Kevin filming from down there - but no one is making anything up about the 3 song rule. (As for my source on that, I've been front row at about 40-50 shows, including shows that were later released at DVD's... and this is how it works.)
  • obviously you guys aren't musicians..

a pick is a mm thick piece of plastic..

speaking as a guitar player, we throw them at eachother all the time.

it's not like it was a rock or something..

the worst reaction would have been: "Ow ed you hit me in the eye".... 'oh im sorry'... 'no biggie' "

    thanks for clearing that up!

ya know, i would imagine that living with people non-stop for an extended period is enough to make you want to choke the living crap out of them from time to time, just because they are breathing let alone messing up an incredible song like garden ;) hey, i felt like that earlier today :D

we cant imagine any of these guys getting on anyones LAST nerve, but we don't live with them!

here's an interesting article on concert photography, which solidifies the 3 song rule

    http://www.photocritic.org/2006/live-band-concert-photography/

    article excerpt:

"........So, how can you take photos at a concert successfully? First of all, remember the “standard” rules for most concerts:

    No flash photography
    First 3 songs only
What the security guys say is Gospel........"
