Any Chicago advice for downtown dogs and beef?

Looking for a place to get a great Chicago dog and Italian beef downtown. Can be separate places for the dog and the beef. Yelp is hard to read because one person says it is great the next says it is crap.
Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.

Mr Beef or Al's Beef.
They're both pretty close to each other. Enjoy.
If you're looking for some strange/classy dogs check out Hot Dougs. Which by the way is nowhere near the other two.98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.

I was gonna say Hot Doug's and Al's.
Wiener's Circle has been interesting. SuperDawg's is pretty good too!Hey, hey. My, my. Rock and roll can never die.

If there isn't a place called "You got a beef?", there should be!
same goes for "I got your beef right here"0 -
Okay, it's not really a hotdog or Italian beef place but you have to check out Kuma's Corner. If you are a coffee drinker, I recommend Intelligentsia.

I like Al's, but I've had a good Italian Beef at a few different places, including at Midway on the way out of town.
Definitely recommend the Italian Combo - An Italian sausage underneath the beef, and get the hot peppers on it, and if you have the option, get it dipped so it's extra sloppy. They dip the whole sandwich, bread and all, in au jus.7/19/13 - Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL
