Any Chicago advice for downtown dogs and beef?

Looking for a place to get a great Chicago dog and Italian beef downtown. Can be separate places for the dog and the beef. Yelp is hard to read because one person says it is great the next says it is crap.
Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.

They're both pretty close to each other. Enjoy.
If you're looking for some strange/classy dogs check out Hot Dougs. Which by the way is nowhere near the other two.
"Let the Ocean dissolve away my past."
Wiener's Circle has been interesting. SuperDawg's is pretty good too!
"Why go home? I am home! And I gotta tell you, it feels FUCKIN GREAT to be here. You may experience this yourself but, if you were born in Chicago, you're always from Chicago. And even if you don't live in Chicago, Chicago will always live in you."-Ed
this place is only good between the hours of 2am and 5am.
let's be honest - their food isn't good at all
this is true.
still a good spot to visit during that time frame. :shudderatmemoriesoflatenightvisits:
same goes for "I got your beef right here"

Definitely recommend the Italian Combo - An Italian sausage underneath the beef, and get the hot peppers on it, and if you have the option, get it dipped so it's extra sloppy. They dip the whole sandwich, bread and all, in au jus.

Portillo's is solid at any location... Dipped is the way to go. Al's is good too. But my personal favorite is "Johnnie's Beef" in Elmwood Park (near O'hare airport).

Kuma's is great, but I prefer Bad Apple for burgers. Just as good, better beer, and no waiting. Speaking of beer, lots of great local breweries. Goose Island of course, Revolution, Half Acre, and Piece is a favorite of mine for their fantastic beer and pizza, although it's New Haven style and not Chicago style.
i spit all over my keyboard! lmao! it's true!!!!
Those are tasty. I ate airport food, so I'm not a judge. I watched the food channel, I ate a Chicago pizza this year for my first time. I needed to take a nap, after one slice. Food induced Coma.....
No Celtics Doggsss. Well said. Maybe we should move to places to avoid?
It's hard to screw up hot dogs or italian beefs in chicago. and the "best" is super subjective. what i feel is the best(on the southside) may not mean shit to a guy that lives up north.
even ballpark/stadium italians are solid, and you KNOW the quality is lesser at a venue of that size. Hell, when I went to yankee stadium, I had what I felt was the best ever pastrami sandwhich in my life, but I'm not stupid and realize that to a New Yorker, there's a 1000 places that serve pastramis ten times better than what the Steinbernners gave me....
Cheesehead!
