Didn't realize this Flacco signing is going to cost them a 5th round pick. Terrible.

Like the trade, don't love it. Feel like they could've done better waiting till Draft Day.

3 first rounders next year sounds good. Howie drafting them sounds not so good.

I used to be under the impression that Lurie was a hands-off kinda guy once the right people were in place. Hahah, that is definitely not the case - if anything what I take from all this is they got extremely lucky winning a Super Bowl, which then emboldened Lurie (in turn furthering emboldening Roseman) to feel like he's a fucking football wiz and is now the 2nd coming of Jerry Jones. Wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the GM when/if Roseman is gone.

That is all very, very bad. Like worst case scenario very, very bad for an organization.

These Ivy League schools will be the death of us. I worked with a guy who went to Penn - he wasn't any more special than anyone else. Fairly mediocre actually.

That story of the Tuesday inquisition meetings was nightmarish to read about - that would leave a guy paralyzed to make any decisions.

I still think Doug got a raw deal. Guy wins a Super Bowl and is forced to endure those Tuesday morning beat downs and is given no control over his staff? Fuck that

Yeah, hindsight is a lot clearer now, too. He got a raw deal from the jump, apparently. And I'd argue that's all due to Chip, Chip fucked them up so bad that they were like "we're never having a coach go Adolf on us again". I think this Sirianni guy is going to suck, but I'm more than willing to be proven wrong. They're definitely never hiring a "big name" guy again and want to keep a thumb on the HC.

Edit: Luckily, football is an incredibly mediocre sport so they'll never be absolutely terrible for long stretches, but going forward until the owner backs away this team is fucked.

I don’t get the Smith hype honestly. Worked out for the Giants, though, they fell backward into a hell of a trade.

Good work by Howie tonight. I like Smith. Don’t care about his weight. Marvin Harrison was like 175.

We stole him from the Giants and turns out he was right about Chase and Pitt’s not being there at 6.

My 10-year old son went through an insanely detailed 5-minute explanation of the Dolphins and all their trades and movements up and down and up in the first round and my wife & I were just flabbergasted.

Didn't like giving Dallas a 3rd rounder but sounds like we needed to trade up to get (I can already hear Merrill saying this) De-VOHNT-AY SMITH. Picking players from Alabama - yeah that makes sense.

Hahaha. I can't wait until my nephews are a little older to get into sports like that.

Yeah it was a good trade. Unfortunately I think it worked out well for both teams. Parsons might be a beast for years to come down there.

That is awesome.  Love that he is so into it.
I have strong memories of my dad's best friend coming over to our house on Saturdays during football season and asking me to fill out a betting card with who I liked straight up and vs. the spread.  Probably was around 10.  I could (quickly) tell you every super bowl matchup, who won, who the mvp was, etc.
Now I could tell you probably half of the winning teams, would screw up the order, would forget who they played, and no way could tell you the MVPs.
Was way better at picking games way back when.  I stink now, for the most part.

I was hoping for Parsons to slip to 15 and have the Pats grab him, then wrangle JimmyG back. Think it would have set them up better in the immediate future, we'll see on Jones.
I think Parsons may end up the 2nd best pro out of this draft after Ronnie Sunshine Bass in Jacksonville.
    This weekend we rock Portland

I don't mind giving Dallas the 3rd rounder because we got here ultimately by gaining a 1 for next year. Howie did good. His talent is in trades and value, not quite the talent and scouting. So thank god (maybe? hopefully?) there's no one else to blame anymore and there's an expiration date on Howie going forward.

Seems like Surtain was really the linchpin to all of this playing out the way it did. If he doesn't go to Denver, then Dallas is taking him, Giants are then not budging and taking Smith. At that point I would figure the Eagles would trade down and get that haul of a trade from Chicago. Then again maybe Denver in this scenario is taking Fields.

I just don't see the hype with Smith, though this is absolutely the pick to make once the corners were off the board. And please don't use Marvin Harrison as a comp. Marvin was an exception to the rule, a hall of famer that was getting the ball from a top 5 QB in the history of the sport. Marvin's also a murderer, but I digress, if anything you know he's got GRIT.

But how many other receivers ever put up the kinds of numbers Smith did verse SEC level talent? I don't know the answer, but I'm guessing not many. So I think the Harrison comp is a good one. Obviously not saying Smith will be a hall of famer, but Harrison proved you can have a successful career at that size if you have the right skillset.

When Howie and everybody was standing up but weren't on the phone, and Smith wasn't on the phone, I'd say my heart skipped a beat that they were going for King Fuck Up again.
