Jalen Hurts is the first QB since Jim Kelly to lose in his first Super Bowl and make it back to another Super Bowl.  19 other QBs since Kelly lost their first Super Bowl and never made it back.  Crazy stat

Bledsoe is missing on the list but bit of an * as he made it back but not as a starter.

@tempo_n_groove brought this stat up a couple years back.

I said then, and say now, that it's not as impressive as it seems. Most of these quarterbacks are mediocre and were on mediocre teams that got hot at the right time and would not expect them to make return appearances.

I'd be surprised if Burrow doesn't get back there though. He's the exception here.

I would too.  The unmentioned part about the Bills missing out on another chance is not just that they have to overcome KC, but it's possible it may be CIN too.  If CIN can stop stumbling out of the gate each season, they will be a force to reckon with.

I'll add too that McNabb being on that list is a little infuriating to me as he should have made at least one, maybe two SB's before that '04 season.

I mean I just think it shows that not a lot of teams repeat, which we already know with our own eyes. And the ones that do win Super Bowls, this isn't that crazy.

If anything it just shows how much Jim Kelly fumbled the bag.

What's on your guys' Super Bowl menus?

I have two sets of ideas:

Idea 1: Sunday Gravy - the whole thing with some sauce, meatballs, spicy sausage, maybe I'll make fresh pasta with my great grandma's pasta machine jawn. I've been faithfully opening an Italian wine for every Eagles game for a while, so this fits in with that "don't change it up" theme.

Idea 2: Super Bowl typical junk food - buffalo wings, dips, chili, guac, whatever - all that kind of stuff. I mean, we eat Sunday Gravy all the time - let's do the Super Bowl thing.

    What do you guys think?

I'd go with what's working especially given the wine.

I'm bringing South Philly's staple of Mexican to the party, gonna make birria tacos.

    Let's play a game.

That was January of 2001, right? So that was, what, 24 years ago? I believe the Eagles won a wild card game that year, their first win of a nice 5 year stretch at the turn of the century. Obviously this past decade has been even better.

How many playoff wins have the Cowboys secured in these last 24 years? Three? Four?

It's definitely a lot less than Brady Super Bowl wins in that span, we know that much.

I hate mixing Italian food with other food. That whole lasagna with Thanksgiving thing - no way.

The Friday PHLY podcast with that professor - Deniz. My buddy is friends with him. I told my buddy I loved when Zach said he subscribed to the Tom Brady newsletter and why not because it's free and Deniz told him "nothing's free - there's an opportunity cost." Cracked me up.

So my buddy texts him and Deniz texts back "also I didn't say this but there's no way Tom Brady is writing that stuff."

Chiefs podcasts seem to be saying: guys, yeah we can three-peat, but it's gonna be fucking hard (TWSS).
