i logged in to instagram for the first time in nearly 2 weeks today, and guess what my first "follow" suggestion was.

charlie kirk.

i have nothing political on my instagram. i do not follow any republicans or religious leaders. why would the algorithm think the first follow suggestion should be charlie kirk?

something is going on with that, because my algorithm should not have him suggested, especially at number 1.

He has a giant memorial and a shared federal holiday though, and his own holiday in several states.  Kirk has to share his 1 day with Columbus.

if we are going to have a rememberence day for kirk, not an elected official, lincoln should have one too. his own day. i think the shared holiday with washington is bullshit. lincoln was infinitely more influential and worthy or being remembered than kirk.

the only reason kirk is being remembered is because he was shot. if this were a heart attack in his 50s, there would be no such day.

I had never heard of Charlie Kirk before he was shot. None of this martyrdom makes sense to me.

I've only seen the name before, while scrolling Twitter, but I knew next to nothing about him.

Actually, I would put it at about the opposite and say at least 75% of the country knew the name, but all of MAGA loved him. He was one of the most influential right wing podcasters. Up there with Ben Shapiro, Theo Von and Rogan.
