Fiscal Cliff ... Here it comes!

The deal also ushered in an additional $205 billion in wasteful corporate tax favors. New racetracks will get tens of millions, Goldman Sachs gets $1.6 billion in tax-free financing for its new massive headquarters, banks get a $9 billion dollar loophole for offshore financing, and U.S. multinationals are allowed to dodge taxes on income earned by foreign subsidiaries – giving them all the more reason to move jobs offshore.0

This is why our government doesn't need more money. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.

unsung I stopped by on March 7 2024. First time in many years, had to update payment info. Hope all is well. Politicians suck. Bye. Posts: 9,487Fiscal cliff / debt ceiling. Mere words used so Congress can get credit and congratulations from saving us from Congress.0 -
I wished I could remember the scary catch phrases previously used in post election January's.
If I was the tour guide in charge of pointing out how this fiscal cliff actually formed (who gets paid to come up with these catchy phrases anyway?) I'd start with 20 some odd years ago when our first trillion erupted from the once stable economic ground just prior to the erosion that occurred from the demise of the gold standard.
This thread, just as the Occupy thread, entices me to believe in the people who embody the AMT. At any given time, this little crop of smart & witty folks could choose to assemble our gripes into a more productive outlet. But in the meantime, and until we at least stand up to stop taking it, I'll just add to what is being referred to it quite aptly as the jerk-off show: when doing so, doesn't a visual of someone bobbing about help? Well, I'm off my knees now.0 -
By the way, of the others who are off their knees and actually doing something, this is the current list I've compiled and am promoting at Dancingpartners.info

The politicians and talking heads have done an amazing job of confusing me to the point I that I have no idea what has happened regarding the fiscal cliff.
I assume that nothing has happened and I’ve been played like a mark in a game of three card monte.
