Are you saying all firearms should be confiscated or that they just shouldn't be sold going forward? Also, what outcomes are you hoping to achieve and what evidence are using to benchmark how similar actions have achieved those outcomes in the past? Remember, you're taking a majority of municipalities where firearms have been legal and available for a couple centuries.
    ban all type of guns..ALL...
only police and military can carry the guns..not even one single civilian..for any reason
    thats my Clear opinion..

You could never sell that to the American public. Many (most?) still cling to the myth that they have the power to rise up and fight their government; to defend themselves from tyranny. Of course, I suspect that most of those people know that their guns are really just toys and compared to the might of the US military their personal arsenals are absolutely irrelevant.

So you're advocating for a government to seize property that was purchased legally from citizens who have not committed a crime? Is part of your plan to compensate individuals for what has been seized? I would imagine many folks have spent well into the thousands, depending on how long they have licensed for.

What is the outcome you hope to accomplish and what is the benchmark that gives you confidence that this is the solution? Remember, you're talking about a populace with 200+ years of firearm ownership that you need to account for.

Also, how are are you compensating these law-abiding citizens for seizing their previously legally owned property?

With thought processes like that if we ban all the cars think of all the lives we would save. Evn if it's just one. How about banning all the alcohol> Evn if it's just one? How about all cigarettes...I mean even if it's just one. How about all swimming pools...I mean this is about saving lives so we would save at least one there too.
  • yeah but those people wouldn't be killed by guns so they fall into the category of either
    a. they did it to themselves
    b. they are part of a cost benefit ratio
    c. shit happens that's life
and these people aren't worth saving. only people killed by guns are worth saving. the goal isn't to save lives, it's to get rid of guns.

30,000 people out of 315,000,000 dies from guns. Take out murders from illegal guns, take out suicides, and take out justifiable homicide the actual number is quite small. But keep with the mindset of punishing the innocent gun owners for the criminals. People keep pushing your justification that banning guns from legal citizens in this country will end the criminal problem and the crimininal possession of weapons. Such a ridiculous perspective. Absolutley ridiculous. :fp:

paint it whatever way you want, America has a problem with gun control, simple. I could continue, like others to back up with some fact, but I know what your take on fact is so I won't waste my time.

Some people's response after the massacre was to go out and stock up on weapons and ammo, shops reported bumper sales. That, to me, says an awful lot about some people's empathy (or lack their of) and intelligence (again; lack their of).

But I guess that what you get when you grow up in a society that trumpets the idea of me over we.

Dimitris, you're not answering my questions. I agree with you that there is an issue of grave concern, but don't think you're making a reasoned case for your solution.

Just thought I'd post this here since this a gun debate and it will never make national attention. Happens more frequently that one would think too. But we should definitely take the guns out of legal gun owners hands. Makes perfect sense. :?

DS1119, Thanks for the link. That shit happens all the time. In Tacoma alone, where I live, I recall at least three similar stories reported by the media in the last 2 years. Did you scroll down and read the comments? If not, you should. The one guy that gives us a great history lesson of past gun control in other countries. That is what the 2nd is all about.

I'll post it if no one wants to do the searching.

Yeah. Penalizing the innocent and taking away their rights is always the right course of action to punish the criminals. Yes...keeping Joe Average from having a rifle in his house will definitely keep a rifle from being out on the streets. Increase the police and police presence people to stop the criminal element. Paper legislation will do nothing here. :fp:

Unfortunately these stories will never have national exposure. It doesn't go well with the liberal media's agenda. I mean you can't fight guns...or should I say illegal gun violence...when you concentrate on the wrong area and that area proves you wrong time and time again.
