    It’s truly awful. I wouldn’t be surprised if roads that can close to become pedestrian-only start to be equipped with those retractable barriers. I was in that crowd last year on Bourbon, and I’m truly shocked only ten people died. When I was there, ten people occupied about ten square feet.

    Here in NY for New Year’s Eve they barricade the whole area surrounding Times Square with garbage trucks! It’s a terrible start to 2025 sad for everyone impacted by this horrific crime!

    I usually don’t get into the Christmas spirit. I mean, I enjoy a good party like anyone else, but the cynical curmudgeon in me hates the commercialization and how western economies literally wouldn’t survive without the annual bingefest. 

    But over the past couple years, my aunt and uncle (mom’s sister and her husband), who were like seriously the living embodiment of the Costanzas, both passed away. And their home was always so “holiday warm” at this time of year. On my dad’s side, I enjoyed the company. On my mom’s, it was the setting. 

    I miss that so much. So I’ve found I’m trying to bring a little of that home now. 

    Happy holidays everybody.
