intent doesn't matter to me. you can't just shrug your shoulders at bullying and say "but I didn't mean it, it was just a joke". that's what bullying is. and it needs to stop.
If the DJ's read this thread and committed suicide themselves is everybody here that criticized them to blame and responsible for their suicide???
we've got to stop showing sympathy for these selfish people that commit suicide. Assuming the family info is correct, look at how many lives this selfish person ruined. These DJ's should be apologized to for insulting them with these news story...
If the media keeps piling on and these DJ's kill themselves, then who are we going to blame?
that statement right there shows your lack of understanding on the topic.0 -

So there you go. If those people on American Idol don't have friends who tell them they can't sing. Have never really paid attention to themselves and know they can't sing. Then what are they doing in line????? They're idiots and if they want to line up knowing that they will be on the first few episodes and laughed at, all the power to em. But don't go and x yourself because you came to the realization that heaven forbid, they are laughing at me.
Do you answer the emails you get from long lost African relatives needing money?
Would you wire money to an aunt/uncle who called you out of the blue saying their stuck on vacation somewhere?
Would you transfer a call from the queen?
All the same thing, man.
my comment about american idol was referencing the viewers and their motivation to watch such trash, not those wanting their 15 minutes. those losers want to be seen humiliating themselves, this woman asked for none of that.
I would transfer a call from the queen if her granddaughter was in my care, yes. it's not that far-fucking-fetched. you take it out of context and make it sound like she believed she was talking to an alien, for crying out loud.
The queen? On a public line? Far fetched? I don't think the queen dresses herself, why in the world would she make a call like that. I guess in some people's worlds. The poison from the poison stream caught up to you ELEVEN years ago and you floated out of here. Sept. 14, 08

If the intent is irrelevant, why is everybody up in arms about about the whole situation, including yourself. As bin frog has pointed out numerous times in this thread. The only time this whole story got blown (and I will say), WAY OUT OF PROPORTION is when this lady decided to axe herself. Until then it was being run on every news station from here to Mars. Poor lady should have looked at the bright side like said looooosers from American Idol and basked in her 5 minutes of fame. the intent is irrelevant because the effect is the same. I think it's important to bring this to the forefront. it's not blown out of proportion. this needs to be examined and exposed for what it is-bullying. do you know the epidemic that is teenage depression and suicide directly related to bullying? do you just call these kids wimps because they can't handle it and others can? would you teach your kids that this sort of behaviour, prank calling and making people look like fools, is ok?
can we not learn to rise above this shit instead of just calling it part of life? why would you want to accept this as the world we live in and not try to change it?
just remember: most mass shootings by students are related to bullying. that's not a culture anyone should be proud of.Gimli 1993

sooo ... let me get this straight ... if someone pranks you in front of the world and that prank involves you violating a major aspect of your job responsibility and will likely get you fired ... your suggestion is to bask in the 15 mins of fame!??0 -

As an option to ceasing my life????????? Yes! Because that was her only option. I thought that when I heard the original story before this lady took it way too far, that it was funny. I find people tripping on the sidewalk funny, people who walk into the glass doors at the mall, people who run into others while texting, I could draw a huge list of what makes me laugh and makes you and Hugh cry. That is what makes life up. Difference. The poison from the poison stream caught up to you ELEVEN years ago and you floated out of here. Sept. 14, 08

let's take the suicide out of this ...
you think it's funny that a "prank" that involves the disclosure of private medical information and that would have resulted in the loss of someone's job and livelihood was funny and that the person who was humiliated should just laugh it off? ...
how would you feel if someone prank'd your bank ...and somebody released your earnings for all the world ... would you think that was a funny prank and suggest to the guy who gave up your info to laugh it off? ...
none of your examples given includes a breach of security, a release of confidential information nor someone losing their livelihood ...0 -

most people find those things funny. they are short, anonymous, and in front of few people and no one knows your name. AND, no one did those things to you. you did it to yourself.
being raked over the coals THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE WORLD is just a tad different, don't you think?
and this statement:even flow - question mark wrote:I could draw a huge list of what makes me laugh and makes you and Hugh cry

if someone pulls your pants down at a party and 15 people laugh at your wee willy, you can get over it.
if someone pulls your pants down and puts it on youtube for MILLIONS of people to laugh at your wee willy, and your picture ends up on the front page of numerous newspapers with the headline "small wonder", you just might off yourself.
I find it odd that some can't see the difference between those two situations.Gimli 1993

i do not enjoy these pranks. i think theyre are childish and mostly harmless. however... the collective outrage from the british press is what amused me... the british press was outraged. talk about lmfao!!! give me a fuckin' break. but THAT was before the nurse killed herself. however i was yet again amused by the collective outrage from the press which was aimed at the 2 djs. as i said elsewhere.. fuck you media.. fcuk you all.hear my name

This just in, sources say there was a third voice, barely audible, subliminally saying, "if you are weak and can't take this joke, kill yourself". May just fit in with a few of the over the top PC people on the board and the straws they are clutching to try and stop people having fun.

As my very first post in the thread had the word "stupid" in it. Stupid people do stupid things. Since we are making things very simple again somebody you or Hugh justify the queen using a public line in the first place and somebody beliving it. There is protocol in places for a reason. Maybe you should channel your anger on the hospital for hiring tools. And not somebody having some fun. PC running amok! The poison from the poison stream caught up to you ELEVEN years ago and you floated out of here. Sept. 14, 08

i don't have anger ... i have empathy ... this is not PC running amok ... this has nothing to do with PC ... i noticed you didn't answer my hypothetical situation ... how would you feel if someone gave up your personal information for the world to know? ... would you tell them to just laugh it off after they got fired?0 -

so it's the nurse's fault for "being stupid" and falling for a prank. gotcha. you never, EVER, fucked up at work? maybe covering for someone and you didn't know 100% of their job?

What passes for entertainment on the radio (or TV) these days just astounds me. Apparently, we are a nation/world of people who have the maturity of 13 year olds. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0 -

Know your protocol. I don't care if the queen, polaris, the PM, whoever called and duped you, or asked you for my information. You got canned. Don't take it to heart. Learn your lessen and don't kill yourself.
So how I would feel has no bearing on the situation. It is just my records. My lord, anonymous could do that and it would be a feel good story of the day. What really did I have to do with it? The person on the phone and the idiot who gave them the info. I fall in how???
Anyway, speaking of skipping over, don't want to take a crack at: if this was everyman's hero Assange showing that they hire inept people that there be a thread on here carrying the man on your shoulders. The poison from the poison stream caught up to you ELEVEN years ago and you floated out of here.
