well, some of us wanted to play cribbage, but one person was too drunk to think straight...we had to play one of those games that doesn't take a lot of thought. She still won...

I skipped my group's get-together last week. I told my boss that my wife had made plans for my birthday.

    It was partially true.

So despite all your bitching, I went to my company party on Saturday night...

Not only did I survive, I actually had fun - it was casino themed... they gave you a bunch of chips that could be used to buy raffle tickets at the end of the night for the prize drawings: (3) a trip for 2 to galveston (an hour drive away, so it was basically 1 night in a hotel and dinner) (2) a 42" flatscreen, or (1) a trip for 2 to London.

For the first time in my life, I actually one at gambling, dumped all my ticets in the trip for 2 to London.... and.... lost of course!

However, apart from the raffle ticket drawing, there was over 75 door prizes, and I won a $500 gift card for home depot! so the night was definitely a success! a free meal, free booze, and $500 from Home Depot? I'll take that anytime!

    :P
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

the party with the big prizes is coming up. We go to that, and stay to the end so we can win the prizes-you gotta be present to win, and since most people have kids, they have to leave early.

In past years, they always hired casino dealers so people could play Blackjack, then whoever won the most would win the grand prize. Then people started cheating, giving their buddies their winnings so one person kept winning the grand prize. They stopped that last year.

We've won $300 gift cards to Cabela's and last year I won a $100 card to Nordy's (still unused).

Used to be held at posh clubs with fancy food. This year, it's at a sports bar... :|

Going out for lunch next week with my co-worker and boss. Whereby I get to listen to them go on and on and on about their kids and my boss go on and on and on about her new boyfriend. I plan on having no less than 3 glasses of wine.

Technically have two company holiday parties tonight, but I'm only going to one. The first is the small one my boss is doing for her staff, where she takes us out to dinner. It's actually not that bad because, hey, free *good* food. I have to miss that -- for the second year in a row -- because it's scheduled when I coach swim practice. Upside? No awkward conversations with idiot coworkers.

The second party I have is the swim team holiday party, which is pretty fantastic. Since the parents are putting it on, us coaches don't have to do anything! I basically kick back and eat pizza while the kids bowl and be all crazy and whatnot. Also, us coaches get a nice card with a bit of a bonus in there from the parents. And that last bit makes any holiday party easy to survive!
