I would personally just get totally hammered, but that's my solution for everything!

You don't have to work with them...and if you make an ass out of yourself you won't be asked to go again

Yeah I am the boss that gets shithoused at these events. I wait until the general party is over and then whoever makes the late night voyage to the after party gets to see the real fun. Just anticipating this is enough to get me through the party every year.

    You hiring?

Actually a central region account manager will be on the table for next year. Probably mid-year though. :)
Also, my boss, CEO, is one of the ringleaders during these after parties. A good company to work for! :D

I didn't expect useable advice...I wanted funny comments to store in my head to think about when I'm sitting there playing games and smiling like a girl on a toothpaste commercial and in my head thinking "I really fucking hate forced happiness"

I'm off to search for White Elephant gifts and an ugly sweater.

Best of luck, hope you survive! This thread just reminds me again why I don't miss corporate america. I once had to do a 2 day team building event, we had to break out in small groups and act out a skit. One year it was at a park with the whole 3 legged sack race, carry an egg on a spoon, all kinds of relay races. I think I still have nightmares about it.

I usually managed to skip out on the holiday parties, I've had to go to a couple but there was always alcohol involved. I don't think I'd make it through one sober. Godspeed.

Just write "Creed Megamix" or something like that on a blank CD-R and give that as a gift.

I'm going to one this weekend, it's in ADDITION to the general one that will be held in January.

So, I guess going means that we are committed to playing whatever reindeer games they have planned, I am the +1, so I won't know anybody there.

According to previous attendees, the games are non-stop. It includes a White Elephant Gift exchange...I'm the DD so I can't drink... :|

    HELP!

(oh, did I mention it will go on for 6 hours?)

that sounds like a terrible time. sorry

I slaved for 3 hours making a 'Spiced Apple Pecan Cake with cream cheese frosting'-from scratch.
I went upstairs to take a shower, and asked Mr. RK to get the wrapping paper.
Mr. RK took a shower, and I am all dressed getting ready to wrap the gifts.
Mr. RK gets dressed, and starts wandering around the house... :|
Finally he says, "I don't want to go, I already have to deal with these people at work...am I horrible?"

    :x
So, he texts them that we're not going, and we call another friend and bring the apple cake over and play Parcheesi for a few hours.
