taking your kid after the show waiting hours and use it for eddie see you..its lame and bad parenting..

as for cursing...well,isnt bad if you think u can take your kid to a sport game and the guy next to u will yell for 2 hours the word asshole.same the next driver to a parking lot..or even worst go to a movie and a fuckin lunitic will get a machine gun and start shooting..
you need to protect your children but the same time not to make the kid to fear his/her shadow..
common sense..and all will be ok..
I disagree. A 5 year old should not be at an Eddie Vedder concert.
Adults will be drinking, adults will be smoking dope, adults will be loud, and Eddie himself, will be talking like a truck driver.

Not a place for a 5 year old.

So are you going to tell Eddie he shouldn't be taking his own kids to his show? As it seems the last few nights they've been handing him his guitars...

Eddie can do whatever he wants. He's Eddie Vedder not some sap in a crowd. :) Plus it's obviously family time for him, having the kids join him on tour for a bit. I'm sure he gets a sitter and leaves his kids at home when the time is right too.

Im not telling anyone what they should do. If Mr. Vedder wants his children at the show, up on stage with him, sharing HIS moment, then GOD BLESS HIM! Its his show, and his family.

But 5 year olds do not belong in the audience with the booze, the drugs, and the nonsense.

    Again, just my opinion.

And what took so long for someone to bring up Eddies children? :)
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

I remember when I was a child of 4, 5 years, I was terrified when I saw drunk people...

I would certainly not bring a toddler, and most certainly not to attract Ed's attention. This is just as bad as the aged ladies who dress like teenagers and scream shit during the show in order to get some attention. But I think a 8, 9, 10 year old child could enjoy a show like this.

Nevertheless, if I ever have children, I would probably take care to leave them with the granny and have a fantastic adult evening with my hubby.

Since some of you have decided that taking a 3-5 year old to the show is your best way to meet Mr. Vedder. Since you have decided to make stalking a "family outing". I have decided that for the next tour I am going to rent this young lady and her toddlers. No way can Mr. Vedder not sign my poster!

Yes creepy to use your kids as bait. Even creepier to use your kid who just happens to have the same name as one of Eddie's kids as bait. I actually witnessed such behavior at the show I attended. Just seems to weird to be a coincidence especially when the name is unique....

Bringing a 3-5 year old is just not appropriate. Right? Thats why you made that decision not to bring them. At an Eddie Vedder show ADULTS will be acting like Adults (well so to speak..I guess that can be argued...hehehe). There will be booze served, there will be marijuana lit up, there will be harsh language(Direct from Eddie Vedders mouth). There is NO REASON at all to bring a toddler to these shows. The ONLY reason I see people doing it, is so that Ed may notice the child, and the ADULT can meet Ed.

I couldn't agree more. Leave your kids at home. Please. They don't give a shit about Eddie Vedder!

I saw this comment in the thread about the guy crying cause Ed didn't blow him after the show or whatever he was upset about. Then while at the bar at the Sheraton before Orlando 2 I see this little girl and I think, "Ha, it's exactly what they were talking about!" Then the little girl's mom stood up, and I realize it's Ed's own wife and daughter

BTW...the lady near me who stole Jill's cigarettes-way to be a creep.

It does bother me to see little kids at shows. I do not think PJ or EV shows are intended to be an all ages event. And just because EVs kids bring him out stuff doesn't mean they are subjected to the whole show. We don't know what goes on backstage. But they are your kids--you get to make the decisions as to what content they are exposed to. Kids at shows bother me but not as much as the Buzz Killingtons who feel the need to police the crowd to keep our behavior G rated. I am not watching my language at a fucking rock concert. And if security is not doing anything about the smoking maybe just keep your mouth shut ;)

    Kids suck.
Keep those monsters at home and away from me!
    :D:lol:

Next thing you know, people will want to bring their dogs to a show! "Oh, Spot here has never seen Pearl Jam live before but he really digs them while I'm listening to them in the car. What's the big deal?"

Actually, I'd rather sit/stand next to a dog at a show rather than some 6 year old! :)

Now let me make some clear, as this statement is blatently directed at my comments.

I don't have kids, nor do I plan on having them anytime soon (only 28). And what I will do in the event I have kids remains to be seen and it will be a decision made by me and my wife.... and I have never ever called over a security person to deal with the most beligerent of assholes in a crowd, I deal with it and move on with my life... but...

These eddie vedder shows are not a "fucking rock concert". Look at the venues he's chosen and the way he conducts himself during a show, these shows are more directed towards a performing-arts environment than a "fucking rock concert" and should be treated as such. If any classical arts performer had to deal with the type of shit people give eddie while he's up on stage (shouting out requests while he's trying to talk, constantly flashing cameras, etc...) they'd get up and walk away.

People smoking anything (be it a cigarette or joint or whatever) need to respect the place where they are, particularly in a performing arts venue. That's just not classy or respectful at all.

This shit isn't just ruining the show for a 6 year old, it's ruining the show for me too. People who want to take there kids should have every right to in this type of environment... and I'll support them... it it was a "fucking rock show" my opinion would change. Most of the toddlers I saw on this show were more respectful to eddie that all of the drunk assholes in the crowd. :o

    Ever see "About a Boy"?

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276751/

Hugh Grant took it a few steps farther, and had a kid pose as his son so he could meet some sassy British babes at a single parents mixer! He didn't get a tamborine, but he succeeds in getting his instrument played!

it's been a while since I last took part on these boards, probably a month, or two, or more, didn't feel like to, so I didn't... I read that LOCKED thread, that Ed fled to the bus and didn't sign nor blow anything to anybody (there was some ranting about shipping rates, which I understand and agree at some point)... some things never change...

kids have nothing to do in shows, specially over their parents shoulder, keeping the ones at the back from watching the show...

Shep, when I was saying your kids I wasn't referring to anyone in particular-- I ment it in the universal sense. I certainly wasn't meaning to address personal issues you and your wife are having. My apologies. And I was referring to PJ shows as fucking rock concerts. Back to the topic, my opinon is that people who bring their kids to use them to get attention from rock stars need to stay at home.

    No problems.

FYI - Don't have kids or a wife or personal issues with the significant other (apart from the usual arguements about home decor ;) )

And I completely agree. People who bring their kids to rock shows to get the attention of the performer need to re-evaluate their priorities in life. :D

I have no idea why I support the idea of being able to take younger kids to these Ed solo shows, being that I don't have kids and my significant other would probably never allow it. ... I guess that little girl 3 rows ahead of me in Houston 2 was just damn cute, very respectful, and honestly probably enjoying the show more than her dad.... apparently I'm just a sucker for a cute kid.

Wow...there are some kid haters out here eh? If you have problems with kids, it's likely because the parents of those kids haven't done their jobs. If you don't want kids, I respect that, but to those saying things like 'keep those f#@*ers away from me...the feeling is mutual.

The OP, funny post, and I agree with all those who think using a kid to get something signed is atrocious. However, my 8 y.o. would think it would be WAY cool to get an autograph from EV. I'd be trying to let him get an autograph, not using him to get an autograph. BTW, I wouldn't let him be out that late to begin with, so it's a bit of a moot point. So if there were an afternoon show, I'd certainly hold him up on my shoulders to try for some advantage, but my heart would be in the place of giving him the experience if he wanted to. (ok, so I'd think it would be awesome to get the autograph too) The primary motivation would be for the shared moment with my son though.

Yes, too young yet for a PJ concert, but if he wanted to go to an EV show, I'd take him.
It's amazing what you hear when you take time to listen.
