By far and away the best album released this year:

    1. Mark Lanegan – Blues Funeral

    Followed by:

    2. Joseph Arthur – Redemption City
    3. Bob Mould – Silver Age
    4. 22-20s – Got It If You Want It
    5. RNDM – Acts
    6. Jack White – Blunderbuss
    7. Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Psychedelic Pill
    8. Cat Power – Sun
    9. Walking Papers – Walking Papers
    10. The Sheepdogs - The Sheepdogs

    Honourable mentions go to:

Rocky Votolato – Television of Saints
    Counting Crows – Underwater Sunshine
Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Americana
    Gaslight Anthem - Handwritten
Soulsavers – The Light the Dead See

King Animal has faded really fast for me already. I was excited about it and I enjoyed the first few listens (and the live clips on Letterman and Jools Holland) but the album as a whole doesn't really hold me. I was also really disappointed with The Walkmen's new one.
    “Do not postpone happiness”

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”

  • so people really liked that new soundgarden, eh? I havent heard it yet, but Ive sort of been weary of the whole reunion thing for grunge bands, as much as I love all the grunge bands, I really havent returned at all to Black Gives Way to Blue. The Pumpkins are great, but I wouldnt say Zeitgeist is in line with Siamese, Mellon Collie or Adore. Havent heard Oceania yet.

I dont know. That whole time period, the 90's is so pivitol and fundamental to me that i sort of want the bands that broke up to I dont know, to remain as they were. But they've obviously changed. AIC has obviously changed radically.

I loved all 3 Audioslave albums and think their first one is a classic, but wasnt too keen on Cornells solo stuff.

they had a new album? I saw theses guys a few years ago open up for The Whigs and Band Of Skulls and thought they were great. Bough Shake Shiver Moan which was enjoyable. Didn't realize they had a new album out.

I haven't heard ¡Dos! yet, but ¡Uno! is quite good. Its more of a return to their pop/punk style (versus their punk-opera style).

    Mumford and Sons - Babel
Neil Young & Crazy Horse -- Psychedlic Pill

Been an absolutely great year for music so far, with just these 4 albums alone. The new Kiss album wasn't that bad either.
